Platinum Games talks enemy reactions to Blade Mode in Metal Gear Rising

Platinum Games posted a blog on their official site regarding the development of Metal Gear Rising Revengeance. In this specific post character animator Hirokazu Takeuchi explains how the concept of free cutting translated to working on different enemy reactions. For every specific part of an enemy that the player could choose to slice off, the studio had to create another animation. Takeuchi also added some videos that demonstrate just a few of the ways enemies can react to your actions.

    This is the most amazing thing about the game! I’m glad that they worked it out, any other studio would have the enemies die, if cut in Blade Mode.

      I wish the sequel on the next-gen consoles to be the original Metal Gear Solid Rising, with the Fox Engine and the attention to detail. The detail in Kojima’s games is what makes the difference for me.
