Yes after SH cancellation….he commented about it in interview ;C… Saying he would never be involved in video games again, because it seems all he is involved in get cancelled. Like that other game before PT/SH :(.

Guys on Xbox One Pre-loading for MGS V has started…
I’m getting the CE edition so it doesn’t matter to me but I always wonder why X1 always gets preloads long before the PS4?

No I mean, PS4 can do preloads too I just want to know why they don’t make them available until like 2 days before release? But Xbox can have it 17 days before release. If the infrastructure was worse on PS4 then it makes even less sense to leave it so late and have everyone downloading in the same 2 days.
i have seen this habit of Microsoft of Pre-loading way in advance for many software’s. I think they try to manage the demand well in advance as they have to only unlock the game on release day. Hence less downtime of service.
It’s probably because the MAJORITY is going to play MGSV on PS4 and steam. That’s Xbox’s only ammunition, pre loading to early…. Giggidy..
Well Sony Should be doing this also, there server gonna go offline due to demand or speed of download would throttle…I have less faith in Sony servers than of Microsoft.

They may pull a witcher 3 considering that even Konami of all people are pretty confident they have a masterpiece brewing as no publisher even as stupid as Konami would allow journalists to play over 16 hours of the gameand then they allowed those Japanese journalists to complete the game if they didn’t believe they had something exceptional that would be received well, despite not even being completely finished yet.

What do you guys think will happen with skull face? In the most recent trailer it appears as if he’s real and against everyone and everything, in the past trailers we’ve seen him by the side of big Boss, and also what it seems to be an allusion that just big boss can see. So what do you guys think skull face is or if he’s real or just an allusion.
Also I think James Horan does a superb job with the voice, it’s not perfect but it gives that feeling of a mysterious and creepy character to skull face so I think he did a good job with the voice.

What I find interesting about Horan is that he’s not familiar with the games industry at all and supposedly remembers very little of his part in TPP. I’m thinking Skull Face really isn’t there for most of the game and that he becomes a figment of Big Boss’ imagination after his death. Maybe. That seems like a Kojima thing to do.
I personally think (more like hope) Kojima goes completely arthouse and makes Skull face both a real physical person but with the characteristics of a phantom (appearing out of nowhere, knowing information and conversation that he shouldn’t know because there is no physical way he could of been there and all of the mirror symbolism with Big Boss). But if it he is a hallucination I think Kojima will leave it to us to figure out what appearances were real and which ones weren’t.
James Horan is great! The fact that he did the voice over recordings by himself in studio and made it sound like he was talking to the other characters is amazing. The only part I didn’t like was when he was talking to Chico in the opening cut scene of Ground Zeroes … sounded off for some reason. The rest of his performance so far was top notch especially in the cassette tapes. 😀

Yeah I love Western movies too, I’m a huge fan of Sergio Leone’s movies. Which is why I always welcome more if they are done well :D. Leone’s movies also include such great soundtracks, many made by none other than Ennio Morricone!

Yeah Ennio pioneered the style of music used in many italian westerns. The final duel of Good bad and ugly is probably my favorite scene in a western. I love how its drawn out to match with the music, it works out well. Plus the outcome surprised me the first time I saw it. Sergio’s trilogy with Clint Eastwood will always be my favorite westerns.
The coolest sountrack is definitely from Once upon a time in the west but I have never seen it in its entirety. Will do so one of these days.

Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill 1&2 are some of my favorite movies from him :). I recommend checking them out! Django Unchained is cool too.

I love how Tarantino just takes his damn time making his movies and trailers(in this case teaser) , Suicide Squad just got its trailer and the movie is coming out later next year I think, but Tarantino is like “no, I’m going to make a trailer when the movie is done”.

If you take a detour and go K-2 Mountain base you need to travel on Horses or Donkey.. You really start to feel a part of metal gear.. For my Comrades info: K-2 is Second Highest Mountain in the World and more dangerous to climb than Mount Everest. That is why it is also called savage mountain.

Do you know how it is possible to rate the game even if it’s not out… i say this because even those who pre-order the game can’t do anything so i suppose that the reviews come from people in my country that are reviewing the game and have early acess.

So it looks like Solid Snake would be in MGS V and there may be a connection with metal gear 2 as Roy Campbell was introduced in it..
Well, Campbell and Big Boss were friends by 1970 in Portable Ops, but i can’t remember if this is cannon (i’im pretty sure isn’t)
Yeah it isn’t, the bigger overarching details of PO are canon (even then Kojima doesn’t like using or referring to PO) but smaller details like the characters Big Boss meets and the roles they play aren’t, maybe someone important like Gene, but definitely not the shoehorned in Campbell.

Is actually referring to Big Boss himself?
As in an actually all-terrain, mobile weapon capable of defeating any metal gear, and also the possibility of being “nuclear-equipped”, though not quite in the same way as MGs, I think this is an interesting thought 0o
It fits with Zero’s idolization of Big Boss, it fits with Zero’s reasoning for cloning BB, and it could also tie into ‘Words to controll the subconcius” unless I’m way off base here 🙂

That is possible, i mean, we don’t really know much about his history between BB rescuing him from the Vietnamese POW camp and BB bringing him and Naomi over to the U.S from Africa, and he should be in the game in some role or another…
And he’s apparently Kojima’s favourite character of the franchise IIRC, so hopefully, Gray Fox’s story will be told in TPP 🙂

Hi, everyone! I’ve been enjoying reading through comments here for the past couple of weeks. It’s been a great way to channel my own Phantom Pain hype, as this seems like a really nice community and you also know a lot more than I do, so I’m enjoying learning a lot.
I hope it’s not too frowned upon for me to just come in asking questions, but I’ve been really curious about this lately and maybe this will help others out as well:
Does anyone know or has it been confirmed if *every* soldier or prisoner we extract within a completed mission in Ground Zeroes will be carried over to our Mother Base in TPP? Or will it only be the prisoners we’ve extracted? Or only certain characters we’ve extracted…?
I’m just really curious if I should take some time in these next couple of weeks to extract a ton of soldiers via helicopter in the various GZ missions. Or maybe that could end up being a bit of overkill and all for nought, if only some few characters will carry over into the next game. (Though it’ll be great practice. Outer Heaven knows I need that practice…)

Prisoners and ” special” soldiers will be carried over from gz to tpp. Like glaz and paliz. But i think it doesnt matter how often you extract them, they will only count once.
Imagine how overpowert motherbase would be if you’d redeem everyone 😀 one plattform for like 1000 ppl. ^^

This is exactly right. Only prisoners and special characters carry over into TPP, not generic soldiers, plus they don’t stack. So just make a point to extract:
– The escaped prisoner in Ground Zeroes
– Prisoner 12282
– All generic priosners
– Glaz
– Palitz
– Kojima (Though with this whole Konami business, this might have been skewered at the last minute)
– The JCS Mole
– The Bald Patriots Agent who has the real cassette tape

Happy to help! One thing that might be worth noting (I’ve seen a few people across the internet mention this, but I have no idea if it’s true or not. Any idea Nyx?) is that while they don’t stack, supposedly if you extract them in hard as opposed to normal, they’ll receive a stat boost in TPP.
For that particular case i extracted everyone on hard aswell. Just to make sure… ^^

Ahh, thank you for the clarification. Though I figured a soldier wouldn’t be able to be extracted and counted more than once (that seems reasonable), I did wonder — “hmm… what if I did a run-through of each mission, or even just the main mission, verrry slowly and put everyone on a helicopter?” Maybe a bit of a relief though, that I shouldn’t feel pressured to recover like… fifty+ soldiers.

Hey guys , I was wondering why would Kojima make P.T. and that trailer for P.T. featuring chico in the first place , if he already knew when Ground Zeroes came out that he’d be fired from Konami …. isn’t it kinda pointless. Anyways I’m glad he did but I think it’s weird and that there is something more than meets the eye.
Well until Kojima actually confirms himself that “you can erase the markings, but the memories will stay for ever” (paraphrasing), was actually about his future conflict with Konami then it should be treated as speculation with the possibility for coincidence.

It’s a fairly common fan wish/theory that MGSV may end with time advancing and the final boss being Solid Snake in Outer Heaven.
If that were to happen I think it’d be awesome if we control Big Boss for the first half of the battle and then control is switched to Solid Snake and we are forced to kill Big Boss. It’d be epic but also sad.
Personally though I believe MGSV will end with maybe the final cutscene jumping to 1995 as a young Solid Snake approaches Outer Heaven and fade to black, roll credits.

So I preordered from the GameStop in the town where I live and now they aren’t having a midnight release supposedly because their manager is going to be in Las Vegas…

And my local Gamestop isn’t sure they can justify having a midnight release for TPP yet, the guy said they needed atleast 200 pre-orders, but as of Wednesday they only had 124 Oo
I keep wondering if that’s because so many still haven’t put in their pre-order yet or if they are getting their copies elsewhere…or if TPP isn’t considered worth pre-ordering by non-MGS-fans?
Maybe people ordered it online to be delivered to their house. I know a lot of my friends now order on Amazon or directly from PSN/XBLIVE and avoid gamestop all together. The gamestops in my town are run by the most incompetent, hateful, rude and condescending pieces of shit employees so nobody goes to gamestop anymore.
When I called to ask the kid said no and take it easy and then just hung up on me. I like to support businesses where I deal with people in person but so far their service has been pretty sad. Maybe I will have to start going back to Hastings.
So, I watched the latest YongYea countdown retrospective video and there was a mention of a 2nd game studio in LA. Does that belong to Konami as well or is that Kojima-sans very own studio?

Since the whole thing between Konami and Kojima it’s been renamed “Konami L.A.” but yeah, more specifically it’s always been a Konami studio.
But for my heart it will be always Kojima Productions. I’m tired to read people writing about business perspective Between konami / Kojima. I’m a gamer who save money for things that i love and want to play. We have our own life to deal . So no matter how good is the argument about Konami Company. Kojima Productions and Kojima itself will be always my side to choose .

I think the saddest part of that video was the question about Kojima directing the next Silent Hill and Kojima saying that the President of Konami told him to make the next Silent Hill, So it wasn’t about the creative decision from Kojima. The President wanted to get his moneys worth and put the FOX Engine to use so he told him to make it.
I’d like to think working with Del Toro was something that made it worth it for Kojima. The man deserves to do things he enjoys. I love Metal Gear Solid to death but i know Kojima is capable of much more.
All I want from Kojima is another Sci-Fi adventure game. Since Konami owns Policenauts and Snatcher, I want a new adventure.

There aren’t enough fiddles in the world to make me go through another MGS4 playthrough. It was grueling getting the trophies. I’m at 91% and I find out the only trophy left is the songs but I need all the emblems to get it. FUCK THAT!!!!!!!!! I did all I could. I’m gonna play Flower for a while, while my body gets ready for TPP.

That’s the emblem that made me decide to let it go. I mean 35 hours of gameplay? Who does that, it’s not natural. It’s such a ridiculous number that I bet Kojima made it just to troll people.

Call that coincidence but in this very moment I have finished my last run for the platinum! I am at the credits. Hope I have done everything well… 8 consecutive runs in the last month for the Platinum. The problem is that I had done the game before when it released and I had done it… 12 times already. ENOUGH OF THIS!

Yeah. Sometimes we gotta pick our battles and I made my peace not getting the platinum even though I’m 1 trophy away from it.
Lol, same thing here, I’m trophy the hell out of games I play, but for MGS4 I got all but the same trophy (more accurately a very small amount of the trophy, because the only song I need is snake eater) because the difference between getting that one trophy and the rest is HUGE, you have to complete the game at least 8 times just to get ONE song for that ONE trophy, it is really stupid. Whom ever did the trophies for MGS4 clearly messed up big time, there is no way such a broken and imbalanced trophy like that made it through knowingly, it would make sense if there were trophies for all the emblems you can get for MGS4 as a step ladder towards the retarded trophy but there isn’t the rest are pretty simple and straight forward, and not time consuming, but that one trophy is so bad I’m never going to get it, lol. And yeah my response was the same “FUCK THAT!!!!!!!!!”.
I feel you man. I had 100% completion when the trophy patch was rolled out only to find out they weren’t retroactive and I had to do it all again. I gave up around 52%, and wanted MGO back. I wasn’t even going to attempt all the dog tags in MGS2, I did that once already back on the PS2 and it was brutal back then as well.
So I know 4chan isnt the most reliable resource but apparently Monday is when the review copies are being sent out to all the outlets. They don’t really have to. It’s all about their willingness to break embargo and be put on a black list for reviewing games and never get anything early again. I know some of them will consider that to be worth it for a game this big.

I did post way below that read through it, well mostly the MG related things. It was good stuff and did give me some info of the past games I didn’t know, from Metal Gear –>. Well written magazine.
Also was fun reading stuff about how the stealth abilities might work in real life. The TPP or MGO section didn’t give much new info imo.
So I started reading it, and It’s really good retrospective in terms of the whole stealth genre. You should try it. It’s a really good read + really nice stuff for Metal Gear fans. A lot of retrospective for Metal Gear games since the first game to the Phantom Pain.
There are not a lot of new info on the Phantom Pain, but it is nice.

Guys do we Know anything about bosses in the game? Oh currently my wallpaper …
We know that we most likely recruit Quiet after fighting her as a boss, and we know that her boss fight is most likely an open world sniper duel, similar to The End except on a bigger scale. There aren’t any other boss-related specifics that I know of.
The boss fights which i can think of are as you said with Quiet, one with Metal Gear and obviously one hand to hand fight hopefully with solid snake. Also anyone played GZ on Windows 10??

Yeah quiet is a boss battle, in a preview article i read the writer actually said it was the best sniper battle he has ever played since sniper wolf (or the end….i cant really recall)

As stated by Kojima, some boss fights are optional (not sure if all of them will be optional or only some of them). You can choose to engage the boss battle or completely skip them if you want.
There will probably be a boss battle with a Metal Gear as all of the past MGS games had Metal Gear boss fights. haha

Remember the Kojima interview about Metal gear Solid Rising ? He expressed some thougths about wanting the game (= but Honestly : As much i want that game to happend. I will never support it . I just think Metal gear Solid world comes as one with Kojima and K.P . No matter who amazing could be the Story for me is not Metal Gear Solid . When i play Mgs games is like We’re talking and sharing things with our Creator . It my be such a Extremist way to think but i’m being honest . Our franchise ends in September. I kinda agree. But The Bosses story needs to be told. Konami remaking Metal Gear 1 is wasteful. We already know Solid Snakes story. And it’s nowhere near as interesting as The Boss or Big Boss. Fox Engine already has the assets available to make it happen. The Boss spends time in northern Africa during WWII. Obviously it would need a European setting too.
Imagine an open world and going around recruiting members of Cobra Unit? They are essentially the dirty dozen. A rag-tag crew of superhuman psychos and murders. But she needs the best of the best. They could start out as in game bosses and she would have to defeat them to recruit them.
Do we want a MGS6 with no Kojima?

Also Big Boss managed to take out all of the cobra unit in like 48 hours on top of a Shagohod and Volgin (this was despite him only being recently released from the hospital after almost dying in the Virtuous mission). He prevented WWIII a couple of times and refused to let himself be used by a government.
The Boss was badass but I think Big Boss as the more impressive achievements.
BB has more Impressive achievements? More then winning WWII? I think not. The Boss wanted Snake to take out the Cobra’s. It made him into a better soldier. And gave him the right and strength to face her at the end. She let him win of course. Just to get her point across. Snake(Now Big Boss) realized this when he discovered she was betrayed for the Philosophers Legacy. He also realized her vision for world.
Big Boss obviously became stronger as the series went on. Big Boss vs The Boss in their prime?. That would be a tough call to make.

Yeah 16 days left <3. Kinda sucks I wont be able to download it midnight on Steam, if it get released then. My new net contract comes available 08.00 on September 1, after moving. But I guess its pretty well just in time for TPP anyway :D.

This is only game in the series in which very less has been shown about the characters. May be its due to being the last game in story arc, and Kojima is trying to keep it as much as under-wraps as for the players to find out about it.
So far we only have seen/heard about 1 confirmed boss fight which is quiet. So there are more characters to come and learn about. And honestly we probably have seen like 5% at best of the game. Game play wise and story wise. So, just embrace Kojima-sans secrecy 🙂
There’s the African child soldiers and the Parasite unit. But not much information about them. Kojima is probably keeping some of the characters under wraps! 😀
