Send Kojima Productions your questions for Robin Atkin Downes (Kaz) and Troy Baker (Ocelot)
From left to right: Jorge Mendoza, Max Preston, Sean Eyestone, Ludvig Forssell and Chris Johns.
During the third episode of the studio’s official videocast, Kojima Station, Christopher Johns announced he’ll be in Los Angeles next week for voice recordings for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The plan is to record some interviews with some of the voice actors as well, two of them being the actor for Kazuhira Miller (Robin Atkin Downes), and for Ocelot (Troy Baker). You can send in your questions for these actors, or to any of the others. The best way is by using the comment box on the official Kojima Station page, but you can also send the questions via Facebook and Twitter (using the hashtag #koji_sta).
“@Kojima_Pro_Live: And we begin!! http://t.co/hQNPUmiNQI” Awesome! Looking forward to the questions!

The rest of the third episode of Kojima Station was similar to the Japanese one, showing the world records and the making of video shown on the second Japanese episode. Joining the hosts this week was programmer Max Preston, responsible for the AI in Metal Gear Solid V.
Aside from giving some tips on how the enemies’ behavior works, he told how the magazine throwing in Reflex Mode came to be. Someone from Kojima Productions LA played the alpha version of the game, and when he got spotted by a security camera he tried throwing a magazine at the device, but nothing happened. After that the team decided to change it so that it actually destroys the camera or knocks out guards. Using grenades works as well.
Also, the drawing contest at the Metal Gear Solid Art Studio website has been expanded, now they are giving away two jackets, and people have another week to join in (until April 10th).

I’d like to ask Robin (Kaz) why he thought it was necessary to just talk loud. And not scream his lines with any real emotion? During the end of Ground Zeroes. He really pulled me out of the scene, especially with the way he says “start talkingbitch” without any clear pause between words. Just sounded ridiculous. And I was worried about Sutherland screwing up…
Also Troy Baker, I’d like to ask did he ever have any down time? Haha crazy basterd is always working. And he’s kicked ass at all his roles. I can’t wait to hear his take on Ocelot. So hyped he’s a part of the project.
Yeah, about Kaz’s voice, he dissapointed me too in the ending. He doesn’t make me feel that he is angry. And his pronunciation of words was a little weird. “Give a back! Tha wasouz”!
I’m telling you man, even Chico was good, And he purposely has an annoying voice. He must have had a bad day at the office or something because he almost ruined that scene.
What I figured after playing GZ, is that l like Chico as a character. Why am l saying that? Because l couldn’t stand Chico in Peace Walker. His stupid looks and his even more stupid voice was what l call a bad written character. Fast forward to GZ and now l like Chico. I believe that what changed my mind about him is the game’s presentation. The cutscenes, the emotions. In GZ Chico was shown with such details that made me feel sorry for him. His torturing and his stupid idea of saving Paz by himself. Peace Walker couldn’t have done this through the comic styled cutscenes.
“Snake, please… I want to go back, start again…”
“…Hombre nuevo.”
I hated him in PW I always looked at him as the “stupid kid” But in GZ he shows heart, not smart by any means. But he shows heart and seems to become tough by the end of GZ. I really want him to be the one to kill Skullface. If anything can redeem Chico as his idiotic persona it would be coming out of that burning helicopter and showing Skullface that “He too can return to this world, for revenge” BOOM
That. 🙂
haha, now i have an image on my head of a muscular, shirtless, bandana wearing chico with an rpg and a heavy machine gun in each hand (shouting and smoking of course)
…….You know what I agree, I never realized it until now but Chico drove me up the fricken wall in PW, I really hated his guts, but yeah in GZ I like him he is an actually character that’s part of the plot now that is not going off about UMA’s.
I agree his voice work in GZ was generally not so great, Robin Aktin Downes (Kaz) is an excellent voice actor so he can do a great job, so who heard these lines and let them slide? A lot of people like to complain about the voice acting in MGS in general (I’ve never had any problems with it) but the voice acting in GZ is the first in the MGS series I have problems with.
I really like the serious tone in Kaz’s voice in GZ. Hearing him through the codec has never felt more immersing and satisfying. A little weirded by his pronnunciation of words in the ending, but nothing too bad.
I thought his performance was amazing it didn’t fell like he was just raising his voice it I felt that he was genuinely angry I loved it
Robin Atkin Downes, how does it feel to be played like a damn fiddle?

No questions for Keifer Sutherland? I sure hope he isn’t treated like some celebrity and given his own times and places separate from the other voice actors to record, one thing that has always been great in MGS is that they did a lot of voice acting together and that built chemistry and everything sounded awesome, ditching David Hayter really hurt that chemistry so I hope they don’t damage it further by recording every separate, and separating Keifer Sutherland from everyone else.
Someone should Ask Robin if he misses David Hayter lol
Well I can imagine him having more things going on at any given time. especially now with his show still filming. But I really do miss hearing Hayter talk about the games his self. I’m holding out on the idea that Solid snake comes out at the end of TPP and I get to hear that man’s sweet voice again ;(
Well I wouldn’t be surprised if the game isn’t actually set in just 1984 I think the story might go for a number of years so it would be great to get solid snake at the end, I think it’s very possible
Seriously, Troy Baker is one of my favorite game voices.. That man can portray just about anyone or anything to perfection.
from the bit we heard on the phantom pain trailer, baker sounds pretty good i have faith on the man that he will be a good ocelot, i mean, as others have already pointed the guy is awesome imo he’s probably the best voice actor out there with nolan north in a close second place
I lovet the sound effects used in the making of segment. Even if they were a little much.
*WHOOSH WHOOSH BLEEEEP*
