Stefanie Joosten says she’s not involved in Death Stranding

Stefanie Joosten, the Dutch actress and model who played Quiet in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, has declared in an interview with Vandal at Mangafest that she is currently not involved with Kojima’s next game, Death Stranding.

I know there is a lot of speculation, both I and my agency have a good relationship with Hideo Kojima. I know he likes to do teasers and stuff. Speculation is a bit part of the world of fans. […] Right now I’m not involved.

Rumors of her involvement have been going around for the past few months. Earlier this year, during Dutch Comic Con, she was asked the same question by someone from the audience, and replied “I can’t say anything about that, unfortunately”, a reply that seemed to indicate she was involved but simply could not talk about it yet. But now she has outright denied having anything to do with the project at the time, though she would like to be part of the star-studded cast, as a big fan of Mads Mikkelsen.

  • She was very good in V, but it’s tricky to use the same actor(s) in different roles across different series. You tend to superimpose the character over the actor, especially in something much longer than a movie, like a video game or series. (imagine a love story movie with the guy that played Joffrey [Jack Gleeson] in Game of Thrones) x_x

  • This is really strange to me. She only spoke about it like days before TGA. I’m not speculating or stuff. But rumors about her involvement for this year was huge and she never said that she was not involved.
    Not to mention that we saw her at Guerrilla Games a lot of times (instagram, Horizon:ZD launch party with Kojima and her… wtf…). Maybe she will work on Horizon sequel. I don’t understand this really.

      Yeah it is weird. But now I’m even more intrigued: if it’s not her then who actually is the female actress they scanned a few months ago?

      Maybe her company could’ve just been involved for some DS merch. Which is why Kojima was wearing her cap, or he could’ve just been giving her brand a Joosten boosten.

    If she is talking the truth then I’m glad she’s not involved . Whatever she did for V was fine apart from mission 45 . She was ok in the prologue even tho she was wooden . Could have been more intimidating even facial expression wise

    Kojima is at least as diversified as great movie directors when it come to any kind of resource (acting, writing, gameplay, …). People like him are always experimenting, even if they face exciting constraints for them (we saw that in all MG/S’s). From actors schedule / availability, to new game functionalities…
    The best is always ahead with passion ;DD

        Here is a long list of Kojima saying he won’t make a new mgs game stretching back to 2001.

          Well at the time he was serious about stepping away, so he wasn’t lying. MGS3 was under control by a different team, but they were going off the rails and couldn’t achieve what he intended with regards to the Cold War setting, so Kojima stepped back in.

          Also for MGS4, Kojima didn’t want to make it and early on that was what was being seriously occuring, but fan feedback and internally at the company demanded that he tie up MGS2’s lose ends so he once again ended up in the director’s role.

          The only time Kojima really lied about something was with regards to the rumor that RISING was handed over to Platinum Games. Which he and Kamiya denied coyly on twitter. This led to the source of the leak, a poster on Neogaf, to be banned. But he was actually right.

          It’s not impossible that Joosten is lying in order to maintain the surprise, other devs like David Jaffe denied Twisted Metal’s existence etc. But well, I think she might actually be being honest, and earlier she couldn’t say anything because it’s likely Kojima was not finished with casting at the time and she might’ve been under consideration, but could not say anything yet.

    Y’all should be looking up which actresses will be attending or going to be around the area during the TGAs. Surely some of you are stalking some of them on twitter. Don’t lie to me!

  • I only know her from the game, not in person. Thats why i can’t handle her, dont like her much and im happy about hearing that she isn’t in death stranding.
