You can now support Metal Gear Informer on Patreon

After careful consideration, we have decided to create a Patreon page so that people can support Metal Gear Informer. For those who don’t know, Patreon is a website that allows people to make monthly contributions to their favorite creators.

Up until recently, we’ve been able to cover the costs with advertising revenue, basically having the website pay for itself. But as hosting got more expensive and revenue went down over the past couple of years, we haven’t been able to make ends meet and only recovered part of the cost.

It’s never pleasant to ask for money, and we have put off this moment for as long as possible, but if we want to keep the site sustainable we have to come up with something to close the gap between server costs and revenue.

And so, we ask you if you would be willing to make a small contribution. We have created a Patreon page for this purpose.

We want to make clear that this is completely optional, and it’s your own decision if you want to contribute or not, and with how much. But the more people help out, the less each individual contribution needs to be to make a difference.

We hope that you understand. We want to keep providing content without worrying about the sustainability of this website.

If you have any questions, remarks or suggestions let us know. This is all new for us so we’re figuring it out as we go.

    Off-Topic: Blade Runner 2049 Spoilers

So i just finished Blade Runner 2049, and i notticed something familiar with the Replicants.

    https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/t_original/xuzkz66f3uvm8u4sdaez.gif

The Main Antagonist Replicant chick, was crying at random moments without actually crying, just like Sam.

And given the fact that both DS and BL are made by Sony, and that there was a GODDAMN unfinished model of a Prometheus/Alien Engineer in P.T. / Silent Hills

    P.T. : https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/zUdWKB2DkfmJrqM6gSgTVW-650-80.png

Prometheus…and i just realized that PT can also stand for PromeTheus https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/avp/images/0/02/RyQkk.jpg

…i think it’s pretty safe to assume that:

    1. DS is part of the Blade Runner&Alien Universe, how deep those 3 connect, it’s still a mistery
    2. Sam is a Replicant
    3. Babies, “The Baby” is the main theme of both DS and BL: 2049

      Side note:

2048, 6, 3 it is a date, the way the voice said it, he only made 3 pauses, one after 2048, and then one after 6 and one after 3, which would make it

March 6th 2048, 1 year before Blade Runner 2049, and seeing how a certain date spelled in a similar fashion to the “2048.6.3” was important for the main Character in BL, it could be just as, if not not more revealing about Sam.

Theory: Blade Runner 2049 Spoiler ahead

Sam is another Procreated Replicant, and the Baby….well, if 2 Replicants, Male and Female giving birth was a weird evolution for the Replicant’s Species, then Lu is the next step in to that evolution, he might be a self made, single made new Replicant, the 1 and only 1, like that, that’s why he is unique, and close to Sam, cause he is his Mother and Father.

    • After watching Cloverfield Paradox I feel like the concepts of that share more similarities with Death Stranding than Blade Runner’s concepts lol.

Well, if we’re speakin g thematically, “Mother” shares a lot more than BL/Alien and Cloverfield combined.

OT: Man, that new Cloverfield movie sucks. There’s some fun scenes and most of the acting is good, but it’s just so stupid and the reshoots basically destroy the film’s narrative arc. I can see why they sold this off to Netflix. Hopefully Overlord ends up better.

I would like to ask a question. I am not sure if it is to be discussed publicly, but I feel it it closely connected to the (at least my) decision on whether or not to join you on Patreon.

Can you predict what sort of content you will be delivering in the long-term? My impression is that, with the end of the original series, Survive might be the only Metal Gear related topic for MGI to hold on to. Otherwise, are you going to deliver more retrospective themes (“Memorable Moments”, “Close-Up”)? Another scenario – probably my most favorite – would be a shift towards Death Stranding, even though it would obviously be contradictory to the brand.

Can you give any direction on this? I love your work and dedication and MGI has always been my first source on Metal Gear related topics.

    • It really depends on Konami’s future plans with the series. They have said that they want to continue with the franchise and that Survive is not the way forward from now on, just a spin off. Also, it would be safe to expect some sort of remaster / remake of the classic games in the future.

Aside from that, yes, we want to continue with the kind of articles you mention. A new art book will release later this year so that will be another close up. And we are always working on new articles but they take some time.

Aside from Metal Gear, we will also cover Death Stranding and whatever Kojima is doing, as we have done since the Konami-Kojima split. News on both fronts has been a bit slow the last couple of months, but hopefully when DS is getting closer there will be more news again. And hopefully Konami has something related to MG to show, maybe at E3, something other than Survive.

That sounds reasonable. Thanks for going into it!

        • No problem. To be clear, this money is purely a means to help us keep this site online without costing us as much every month. Combined with the advertising revenue we try to get as close as to what it’s costing us as we can.

    • Yea he’s said before he’ll cover both Metal Gear and anything Kojima related, which has been the case since overall there’s been much more news from Kojima/Death Stranding than Survive and Konami’s lack of a proper 30th anniversary. You can think if it as the Kojima-Informer as much as MG-Informer.
