Kojima and del Toro will talk about their creative vision and pursuits during this month’s DICE Summit

The official DICE Summit website has announced that Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro will be keynote speakers during the summit taking place Feb. 16-18. They will ‘offer insight into their creative vision and the driving forces behind their artistic pursuits’. The discussion will be moderated by Geoff Keighley.

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences is pleased to announce world-renowned game creator and auteur Hideo Kojima will join film director, screenwriter, producer and novelist Guillermo del Toro to present the Thursday afternoon Keynote Address at the 2016 D.I.C.E. Summit (#DICE2016) conference, taking place Feb. 16-18, 2016, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

DICE-2016-del-Toro-Kojima

In a session titled “A Conversation with Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro,” these master storytellers will offer insight into their creative vision and the driving forces behind their artistic pursuits. Moderated by longtime video game host and producer Geoff Keighley, this conversation will revisit some of their fondest memories from their own individual careers as well as some of the pivotal moments from each other’s work that remain a constant source of inspiration.

Last month it was already announced Kojima will receive a Hall of Fame Award presented by del Toro during this event, but this recent announcement could mean we hear a bit more about Kojima’s ideas for the future. Del Toro and Kojima were originally going to work together on Silent Hills, until the project was cancelled due to Kojima leaving Konami. However, it looks like a collaboration between the two storytellers may still happen in the future.

Hey, all the power to them! If they will bring out a game in collaboration, I’m all go.

  • Tong Ninja

Should be a fun and insightful talk/discussion between these two artists. 🙂
It’s cool that Geoff Keighley will be there as well.

  • Gatsu

Omg nice 😀 and Geoff gonna be there too ^^. I hope I get to see something cool from these two after few years. Like a game that actually won’t get cancelled.

  • JoJo

    YES YES YES

  • BigBoss_S_Rank

They SERIOUSLY need to get together again and make the game they envisioned when they were working on Silent Hills. (Renaming locations and characters where applicable). Hell, i bet they could even get away with making it a shitty game and it’d still sell amazingly well just because people would consider it the greatest “fuck you konami” of all time.

I’d throw my money at that, you bet yer darn tootin’ arse.

    • Biggy

      No argument here!!

    • Spectralbuttplug

Yes but i want something pretty eihm original

  • Daburcor

  • Lewis

Would be interesting to listen to them. And I really want any kind of announcment there.

  • Ventris

Hi guys, I have off topic question for you.
Why some missions have [replay] in front of mission name?
Can we get Huey back by playing his “replay” mission like quiet?

    O.o I’m confused with this…

  • Spectralbuttplug

  • Gatsu

It shall finally be time for The Revenant on Saturday :D, so damn excited for this movie! I wonder why it arrived so late to Finland though :P. This movie is gonna kick ass, I love revenge tales and the camerawork will surely be incredible again, just like with Birdman.

    • MrVux007

I was watching this movie with my brother.
The movie in which (of course) DiCaprio shined and other actors did great job as well….
But i would note tho, some scenes in this movie, were so damn realistic(not for the faint of heart) :D…
Trust me there is one particular fight in this movie (youl know it when you see it) when you just want to hit the replay button over, and over again, just to enjoy how well it was filmed…

Rly remarkable how the actors and the whole filming crew in general, have pushed themselves while making this awesome movie…
Definately recommend this for all folks!(But not for the faint of heart ofc) 😛

    • hunner

    • you’re in for a treat bro! i watched this one a couple of weeks ago on imax and it’s a very very good film, there’s a lot of stuff to pay attention, the camera work, the acting, the effects (real, not pc) and the sound, they’re all superb

      • Gatsu

Damn, what a great fucking movie that was :D! Beautiful, intense and amazing acting and camerawork ^_^.

        • haha, i knew you would like it!

    • FMercenary

Finally watched this… Q&A are also revealing a lot..
I am going to re-watch it. The picture of Big boss and Julien in front of the elevator (etc..), fully explained, awesome, besides millions of tech infos about Konami and JP game dev.

    • SNKtheStampede

      No english sub? 🙁

      • Full Options

No unfortunately… 🙁 That’s sad because besides many details about Hideo’s and Japanese general way of working, he provide very rich informations about game engines evolutions and challenges.
You may check (if not already) what Nyxus published about it :
        http://www.metalgearinformer.com/?p=23671
The video is long, I hope they’ll translate it soon, because he is sharing a lot of stuff.

  • looking forward to this!
