Ground Zeroes to be censored in Japan
Apparently, a scene in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes has been censored in the Japanese version. This reports the French magazine Jeux Video during their impressions of the game. The scene is a ‘gory and painful’ sequence featuring Paz, so possibly this is about the ‘surgery scene’ we saw earlier in the Red Band trailer.
Of course Kojima isn’t too happy about this, saying that the Japanese censors have understood nothing of the symbolic meaning of this scene. The scene’s impact is supposedly ‘reminiscent of a scene from Metal Gear Solid 3’.
The European and American versions remain uncensored.
Finally! Some good news about being a non-japanese MGS fan! They are getting so many exclusives. At least we get this!

MGS1 and PW were censored in Japan too. They gave Johnny Sasaki a pair of underwear when he’s undressed by Meryl and Dr. Strangelove’s electric rods were replaced by laughing rods.

I wish they had kept the white blood in the US version of MGR though. It ruins the reveal that Jetstream Sam is not a cyborg like Raiden and the Winds.
White Blood makes sense since everyone had Nanomachines within them.
Blood doesn’t make any sense and generally blood doesn’t gush around like that in real life.
Storywise Its still Nanomachine blood, just not the old White blood, advancements in technology after the patriots fell advanced greatly and allowed cyborgs to have more human components, which includes mimicking blood and organs.
Gameplaywise its just because they wanted to get away with it. ;p
The reason why they censored Peace Walker is because they wanted to keep the Cero C rating.
If the torture scene would be intact, it would have been changed to Cero D, and since he wanted everyone who had a PSP in Japan to play the game(especially the time where the handheld is getting a lot of games) he had no choice but to censor it.
He mentioned this in an interview and was posted on andriasang back then.
I don’t think they’re talking about the operating scene… if mimics something from MGS3… is something a little less gore but more “sinister”… like shooting a girl on the face…
If he is talking about MGS3 then something happen’s with Paz beyond a “surgery scene”. Maybe Big Boss kill’s Paz just like he killed The Boss

Do you think that’s what they are referring too? I think its something much darker than Paz’s surgery.
Alot of the people who played GZ mentioned a much darker ending that they didn’t want to spoil. So obviously we don’t know it yet. It could just be the surgery, but im hoping for something much more too! Im sure Kojima won’t disapoint
It’s hard to think of something even darker then getting a bomb ripped out of your stomach while you are awake but if it is something else I can’t wait to see it
I think Big Boss kills either Chico or Paz or one of them dies and you see it go down in brutal fashion.
I’m thinking the same but I just don’t see big boss killing Paz and especially not Chico I know he is changing and something will happen to lead into phantom pain but I just can’t see big boss killing either of them. I guess I could see something like Paz helping set up the attack but if that happened I would think Kaz is more likely to kill Paz then boss I don’t know, man I can’t wait for this
I think maybe BB kills Paz. Maybe just to “End her misery” after you know.. having her chest cut open to put a bomb in, then stitched up. THEN cut open again and having it pulled out!
I really can’t wait. People who have played it described it as one of the best metal gear ends so far. And in all honesty, I am not expecting too much from GZ regarding story. So whatever this ending is, I’m dying to see for myself!

While visiting Chico at the camp, Skull Face claimed to have overseen the painless demise of a female prisoner, possibly referring to Paz. By this time, Paz’s hair had been cropped short as part of her interrogation, and she had been chained up by her hands in a room secured by a steel gate. Big Boss and Chico eventually rescued Paz, but XOF had anticipated this and implanted a bomb in her abdomen. Emergency surgery was carried out that removed the bomb, causing great distress and pain for the conscious Paz.”

As I say, end her misery. Maybe they weren’t planning on killing her. After all they wanted her for intelligence on cipher..but she was suffering too much and the doctor said that he couldn’t do anything else for her.
I don’t know man. All I know is I’m too excited to see what happens. I think Kaz is more likely to snap and kill one of them more than Snake. But either way it’s going to be fucked. To think of all the things that Boss had been through. This is the event that pushes him to his ground zero 🙂 it has to be crazy.

I see people in the forums saying it has to be something like rape or very gory but that’s not kojima metal gear has never been about sex or gore kojima is better then that it will be something far more impactful then rape I think
Rape has been confirmed in GZ. Although I believe it’s only on an audio tape. Maybe it turns out Kaz rapes paz. After snapping saying “why not!? This war is taking everything from me. I’ll take something back.”.and that leads to BBS and Kaz big falling out.
It’s insanely unlikely but that would be a hard hitting point in the story.
I know rape is confirmed in an audio tape but I’m saying the big ending won’t involve rape I mean they are on a helicopter so and I doubt kaz would rape Paz would be funny though
I’m hoping that they are talking about a scene separate from the surgery. I know the ending will have a very big impact on what happens in the phantom pain so I’m really excited to see what happens there. although I know that the ending will make the wait for the phantom pain Alot worse 🙁

I have been playing video games since 96. I have never tried to do “everything” in a game besides recently in GTA V. I WILL make Ground Zeroes my first platinum ! EVEN IF IT RUINS MY MARRIAGE

Im determined I will 100% GZ and TPP.
GZ will be managable. But TPP is gonna be so damn hard!!
First game I ever got 100% in was MGS3. I tend to do it with small games too.
Around 90% in MGS2 now, but the VR missions are too damn repetitive xD
Also just completed all PW missions last week too finally.
My fiance doesn’t understand my hobbies. So I’ll never get to share it with her but! I have requested the 18th off and I have set up my son to be watched by mother in laws. I will make this happen. And I can’t wait for everyone here to share their stories! And theories of where the phantom pain will go!

I have been replaying mgs3 recently and I am exploring a lot them I gave in the past getting ready to explore every inch of camp omega multiple times, it’s amazing how much hidden things are in mgs3 so phantom pain is going to have so many things to find

What scene?
If I’m correct, then it’s the torture scene with Naked Snake where Volgin is beating him up and eventually EVA and Ocelot step in with him doing a gun roulette and Naked Snake takes the bullet to his eye to save EVA. I have a couple other possibilities or so but that one seems the most likely that Kojima is referencing.
