Kojima talks about MGSV: The Phantom Pain at Spike TV’s All Access Live
During an interview with Geoff Keighley for Spike TV’s E3 show All Access Live, Kojima talked a little bit about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
The 30 minute gameplay presentation will show some of the new open world concepts that weren’t in Ground Zeroes, such as changing time and weather, and a larger map.
While they were talking, a screenshot came up showing a room full of people.
Kojima said this screenshot ties into the story of Snake, as he starts getting people together, forming a new group.
Story and gameplay are deeply tied. “I try to create a game where players get very emotionally involved into the game.” Kojima said, speaking through his translator Mendoza.
Of course, this is a story of revenge. “Snake and his comrades will go to extends that maybe they shouldn’t go.” This also ties into the events of how he becomes Big Boss, and the creation of Outer Heaven.
The team has been making adjustments based on feedback from Ground Zeroes, mainly to the controls, and The Phantom Pain’s playability will be improved.
Kojima added that they have never created something of this scale, so it’s pretty hard to make. “The development has proven to be very though.”

Evil Within is my most anticipated game this year and it’s coming to PS4. The Last of Us Remastered is coming as well as GTAV.
So yeah i’m glad i waited for the PS4 versions on some of the old gen games 😀
But my two most hype games of next year is Uncharted 4 Thief’s End and Metal Gear Solid V Phantom Pain.
I may finally buy a PS4 by the time these games comes out 🙂
I can’t decide which one will be better!!! Especially how both franchises are one of my favorite games this generation.
It will be interesting to see if MGSV or UC4 can manage to fight for GOTY next year!! ^^
One thing’s for sure. I’ll be buying both Day 1 and Collector’s Edition if available 🙂
I can’t wait for uncharted 4 one of my favourite series. I’m scared that they will make it to dark though the same guys as the last of us are directing it and the trailer makes it seem like it will be the last game. I’m happy with a dark uncharted but I hope they don’t go to dark I want sully to live.

Big Boss, Punished Snake, and now Venom Snake? Also, no Arsenal Gear?
Yeah, what happened to Punished Snake? I thought that was gonna be what he was in MGSV-TPP not Venom Snake, Also yeah, what happened to Arsenal Gear and Metal Gear ZEKE? they deserve a spot in the list too.
Punished Snake is BB when he awakens from his coma. Venom Snake awakens when the next disaster hits Diamond Dogs. The coffins being set on fire probably means another huge loss for DD.
Yeah at the end of the trailer we see Big Boss with his robotic arm and a piece of shrapnel in his head, and considering he has that wound when he wakes up from the coma, then there is a pretty big time gap between when the ground zeroes chopper crashes and when he ends up in a coma. Before Big Boss ends up in a coma he survives the ground zeroes crash and gets a robotic arm and builds Diamond Dogs, I thought Diamond Dogs came after his coma or that Kaz Built it when he was in the coma, but at the beginning and the end of the trailer he is wearing his robotic arm and his diamond dogs outfit, and at the end of the trailer is where he gets shrapnel in his head, seeing this it looks like he ends up in a coma after he gets a new arm and starts building diamond dogs.
The timeline I had built in my head has been shattered but I’m building a new timeline, and wow, now I know why Ground Zeroes story was cut really short and abrupt, because if they took it any further then it would have given too much information about the events before his coma, I already thought ground zeroes should have been one game along with MGSV-TPP but after seeing why the story was cut so short I am really disappointed that Ground Zeroes was a separate game.
Wow there is a lot in that trailer, like a LOT, not only did it shatter my timeline but it gives enough information to let me build a new one.
If you look closely, the only mission affected to Venom Snake is “Rescue Kaz Miller”.
Maybe Snake will be named Venom Snake untill he rescue Kaz, then will be named Punished Snake during the Diamond Dogs / Outer Heaven outbreak.

They both have 5 games as protagonists .
Solid snake: MG; MG2; MGS 1 ; MGS2; MGS4

So… Am I the only one thinking that they went back to mother base and just salvaged and built on top of the wreckage for the new diamond dogs mother base? I also think that “Outer Heaven” as we know from the original MG is actually XOF base… based on the new trailer… I’m thinking we take over it after we kill Skullface… and go into hiding… hmmmmm secret base after going back and forming FOXHOUND???????

Something trivial, but I personally like Kojima talking about TPP development at past . “Dev has proven to be very tough”.
Am I jumping on any hint or could that mean that the development is actually finished ? That could mean the game comes out in 2014. i can’t see any studio who would take nearly 1 year to polish a game.
I think development is very very close to completion but I think the game will come out next year, you know how kojima is I think it’s really smart they haven’t even hinted when the game will come out because they want as much time as they need to make it as smooth as possible
