Metal Gear Online to be shown at The Game Awards 2014

Fans have waited for a long time, and it seems like their patience will finally be rewarded: at The Game Awards 2014, taking place on December 5th, Hideo Kojima himself will join the stage to world premiere Metal Gear Online.

Lastly, European Community Manager for Konami Su-Yina Farmer tweeted: “I’ve had a sneaky peek and yes you should be excited.”

Metal Gear Online has been in development at the new branch of Kojima Productions based in Los Angeles, with the assistance of people from the Japanese team that created the original.

So, are you excited?

Update: To avoid confusion, both Hideo Kojima and senior producer Ken-ichiro Imaizumi confirmed the multiplayer base invading gameplay we’ve seen is not the same as Metal Gear Online.

Translation of Kojima’s Japanese tweet by JunkerHQ: “The Mother Base battle gameplay we showed at gamescom is not part of the new MGO, which we’ll be unveiling at TGA. What you saw at gamescom was one of the main game’s Mother Base online features, which allows players to infiltrate each other’s Mother Base.”

I wouldn’t care if it’s exactly like mgo2 honestly. Tsne was absolute.

yeah the gameplay was great I just hope they don’t let the lag switchers ruin it like they did with Mgo2

Am I the only one rooting for a Metal Gear All-Star Brawl, featuring basically ALL THE CHARACTERS from previous games?

Not really, The Best of The Year was the Arkham Knight announcement, the only thing that could beat that is The Phantom Pain Release Date, or Silent Hills Platforms Lineup.

      • Johnny Zombrex

Silent Hills will obviously be on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Kojima has stated multiple times how the Fox Engine makes Cross-Platform development easier, just don’t expect a last-gen release.

  • Damn it Kojima, about time..
I wonder if they gonna call it MGO2 or just plain MGO.
Hopefully we don’t get played like a damn fiddle.

      You mean mgo3

      Reply
      • Well they never refered to 1st one as MGO1 and in 2008 they just called it MGO, so this one probably will be called MGO2

Thats true but this will be the 3rd metal gear online

    • MGS3 was the first MGO.
      MGS4 was the second MGO.
That makes this upcoming one the MGO3.

I was starting to think that sneaking into other peoples mother base was gonna be the online portion to the game. Awesome hopefully they bring back all of the game modes from the previous one and some new fresh ones.

Same here. I was sorry for all the MGO request. But Kojima doesn’t disappoint. This game will have some massive content.

Yeah, i remember. Didn’t play MGS4, but played Subsistence, which if i’m not wrong was the MGO 1, i had fun with it.

I would love if this MGO will be Cross Platform between PS4, Xbox One and PC, it would be interesting to see what’s more efficient for MGO, a Controller, or a Mouse and Keyboard, but i doubt it, but still, it would be fun, right?

since i lack knowledge in cross platform multiplayer i cant say much….the controller will always dominate for third person shooter game(but then again a guy with a keyboard and a mouse can outplay a guy with controller just as much as his skills allow)…. btw is there an cross platform game (that allows PC players to play vs Console players ) cuz i havent herd of any?

I can guarantee you that if they won’t have a release date alongside this reveal you can kiss and say goodbye to Q1-2 release. That’s for sure.

I hope that all of this wait is worth it. Otherwise KojiPro is in trouble.

As long as it’s not delayed to 2016

          Reply
          • Big_Boss88

I trust Kojima not to delay ^-^. That has been the problem with many games on current gen, when the developers go and tell the release date way too early just to delay it later.

But I’m sure Kojima will give us the exact date (maybe next week XD ), when he’s sure the time is enough to finish TPP 🙂 .

      • Schmojima

What about announcing it while a kojima station? Thats still a thing!
I mean, why should he announce tpp at the tga’s (rushed), if he can do it comfortably from his Konami HQ in midtown tokyo two weeks later?

Ok, the buzz surrounding such a gaming event is quite high, but the news will spread like a fricking wildfire in any case, so why not do it from his leathercouch, next to kobayashi-san?

Hmmm, it would be too much information for 1 show, he’ll most likely pull another “Mobydick” or “P.T.” and hide the Release Date somewhere inside the Ground Zeroes Update, or the PC Codes.

      • Mini gear

Maybe after TPP trailer after beating ground zeros it will show it

I have a feeling MGO3 will be more like PW Versus Ops than MGO2. There’s no health bar in MGSV, so I bet it’s easier to just gun people down instead of having to aim for headshots. Especially considering how fast you can die in MGSV.
