Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Comparison Video released

A little while ago Kojima announced his plans to release a trailer comparing the four different versions of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, after getting a lot of requests. A screenshot comparison has already been released by Konami. Now the video is here, showing the differences between Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Check it out!

Note: The best idea is the download the video, since watching the video online has an effect on the frame rate. To download, head over to Gametrailers and click on the download button below the video (this is the English version). Here is a link to the 60FPS version.

According to the video, the next gen versions have ‘improved lighting, effects, and shadows’, as well as ‘increased resolution and larger texture maps for more detail’. Also, they run at twice the frame rate (60FPS instead of 30FPS).

The PlayStation 4 version has a visual effect the other versions don’t have. This is what Kojima said:

Special treatment for the sky is made for PS4 based on atmosphere simulation.

He also added a picture that shows this.

The Xbox 360 and Xbone version basically look the same.

It really does, doesn’t it? There are no huge differences, which is so, i dunno…dumb? crazy? Why bother with next gen x-box if it isn’t that better?…But the ps4 is killing it as always!

(Fuck that Console war, but I’m kinda glad that i stuck with playstation all along)

Well. the Xbox One version is a slightly better looking version of the XBox 360 version of the game with a better framerate for it.

the one with the blue tint is the latest version

They got rid of the blue tint and gone back to a more natural source of lighting, like the original one first shown in 2012.

Compare TGS 13 trailer to this latest one. You’ll see what I mean.

I’m pretty sure the screens with the blue tint is from the TGS 13 one, lol, so I’m not sure what you mean here?

          • TheF1BOB

Yes I know that. I’m just saying that the comparison trailer shows they’ve got rid of it.

          • TheF1BOB

Yep and agree. BF3 filter ruined the realism for me.

            Glad they’ve changed it.

          • Cartmangus

Yeah. The more I look at the blue tint images compared to the more natural lighting the worse it gets, definitely good they went back

It now actually looks more like the PAX trailer but more refined.

This pointless as they’ve got rid of the blue tint.

Is that a picture supposed to be the bald or fixed version? To be honest it doesn’t look -that- bald. Then again it doesn’t exatly look like a semi mullet thing either. You have to consider the source of the lighting, the direction its coming from and the angle of the object that the shadow is being cast against. Also, this..

That PS4 version does look pretty, but I’m staying on PS3 anyway… Can’t wait to play the full MGSV once Phantom Pain in PS4 releases tho!

I’m really impressed with how they haven’t just focused more on current gen and just leave last gen looking good but not great like a lot cross generational games seems to do, they have put so much effort into each version and they all look amazing I just can’t wait to see what the jungles look like. I would even be happy to get tpp on ps3 if I had to I don’t know why people think they are going to drop the last gen versions

Seeing this same game run on 60fps excites me even more for this game. I can’t wait anymore. It’s the 1st MGS title running on 60fps

Yup! MGS2 was the first to be @60fps. Dunno about the HD collection though.
