Check out the MGSV TPP promotional pamphlets that are being distributed in Japan
As part of in-store promotion Konami is distributing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain pamphlets in Japan.
They don’t contain a whole lot of new information, but do confirm (as was pointed out by a journalist during the Preview event) that Outer Ops (or at least something similar) will return in MGSV.
On Reddit, user hecheff translated some of the text.
Obtain people and resources in the field to expand your Mother Base. Expanding Mother Base allows all sorts of new weapons and items to be developed; starting with the ones found during missions, along with all sorts of support. You can also train soldiers and send them off into missions.
Additionally, you can intrude other players’ customizable Forward Operating Base (FOB).

Realistic infiltration missions in an Open World
The massive field portrays a realistic passage of time and weather, allowing you to freely form missing strategies to pull off. You can also call on your buddies for support during missions. Capture soldiers, animals, vehicles, weapons, containers, etc. and clear missions to expand your Mother Base.
A Massive Field 200-times larger than “MGSV:GZ”
The explanation of the ‘Forward Operating Base’ makes it appear as though you actually won’t be able to attack other peoples’ entire Mother Base, but only this ‘FOB’. Maybe it’s a precaution to make sure players can’t get ruined because their entire base is looted.

I know some folks here are going to hate me for bringing this up but… In one of YongYea’s analysis (The one about Online infiltration to other Bases) he theorized that there would be an FOB separately from our Mother Base, the video presenter never refers to the base shown as “Mother Base” he constantly refers to it as Forward Operating Base, so this was not fully confirmed but heavily likely from what Yong analyzed in that video, go check it out if you wish!

Well, let’s say I used to like him more than I like him now. It could be because of the lack of news, I guess. Still his fan, of course, and absolutely love his analysis, not to mention the great work they are doing with Korrupt Ronin and FraggedNation. Yong is awesome! He does give credit where it’s needed unlike what other people say.

You’re wrong, he didn’t do that in the past. He only did it after he heard the criticism. Even JunkerHQ called him out on it on Twitter, saying that their only beef with him is him not crediting his sources. I’m not making this up, look it up.

No he doesnt, for example he stated that neogaf started the head transplant/doctor theroy which is wrong.
I was a noob journalist when I started out. I was more of a fan sharing information than a journalist, and in my excitement to get information out to other fans, I often neglected to pay attention to giving credit. Obviously, that was wrong, but I heard the complaints and criticisms and I’ve changed that. It’s called learning from mistakes. I’ve become better and more professional at what I do as a result, so I’m always grateful to the critics and complainers, as they do have some valid points amidst all the unnecessary hate and insults. So now, here we are. We can either hold grudges over the past, or we can look forward to a better future.

Just one thing: we had already heard the term ‘FOB’ before. Sean Eyestone first said it during Gamescom demo, but he didn’t explain what it meant. I think Yong theorized about the FOBs in one of his analysis and now we know he was correct about it.

I did listen to it. Multiple times because I watched all of the gameplay segments more than once. It seemed strange but we didn’t know at the time because nobody said that we will have to MB. Hey I’m pleased to havve them and can’t wait to build them 🙂
to make it clear: there are two types of invasions: online & offline. in offline invasions ingame charakters will invade ur motherbase. in online ur “friends” are able to invade & infiltrate ur FOB.

Enough is never enough. The hardest to replay is Peace Walker, every time I replay it I put like 100 hours into it (my first time was like 150-200 hours, lol), I’m a bit of a completionist so games like PC and TPP consume all my time, lol.
I feel like I should PLAY the games.
Yes, I’m on Metal Gear Informer and have only played GZ due to being a PC/Nintendo guy. I hope to acquire MGS3 for 3DS soon, though.

I plan on buying a cheap PS3 and Metal Gear Legacy Collection at some point, but MGS3 would be nice on 3DS. I’m not sure how the camera is without a Circle Pad Pro, though.
That would be the best way to easily play all the games, I have no better recommendation.

i own almost all MGS games in existence, save for the physical copies of the MSX and NES carts, and also the japanese imports, so as an owner of the 3DS version of MGS3 i can tell you that the camera controls exactly like Peace Walker on PSP. if that’s your cup of tea, as it is mine, then you’ll be fine. you can crouch walk and over-the-shoulder aim as in PW as well. also, the CQC is handled with the R trigger. so you won’t be caught with your pants down without a circle-pad. and actually, i own the MGS HD collection on my Vita as well, and knowing that it has 2 analog sticks you’d think Konami would have taken advantage of that and updated the controls to suit modern standards. at least have it in the Options menu. but i digress. the only small issue i have with this iteration have to do with the choppy frame rates of the cutscenes. i own Resident Evil Revelations for my 3DS and it’s got better frame rates in comparison tho it’s not too terrible. i recommend MGS3DS for sure. i mean it’s Big Boss on the go!
Never played Peace Walker, either. I just watched a review of MGS3D, looks pretty good. Of course, if I buy a PS3 and Legacy Collection I won’t really have much need for it.
It’s cool, new fans are always welcome, kinda sucks you started with GZ though it’s like the only none stand alone MGS game, lol. Glad TPP is coming to PC you can play it 🙂
Yeah being PC/Nintendo would make it harder to get into the series since it has primarily been a Playstation thing. You could probably play the first two Metal Gear games for the MSX on an emulator on the PC, lol depends on whether or not the game is too old, a lot of people have a hard time playing games that old.
I don’t really care to emulate a game unless I legally own it already, just how I am. I’m probably just going to buy a cheap PS3 and Legacy Collection in the end, shouldn’t be more than $100 as far as I know.
Both the MSX MG games are playable in MGS3 anyway, so no need to emulate if you are getting MGS3 🙂
I did that a while ago. I had a MGS marathon but now I’m super busy with Witcher 3. I might replay Big Boss’ Saga close to release.

For those who didn’t know, Kojima recently recommended Knights of Sidonia which i already knew the series was going to be great even before Kojima even recommended it. So if your looking to watch Anime while waiting for MGSV, Knights of Sidonia and Darker than Black is the perfect place to start ^^

Interesting to note that the The Phantom Pain stamp on the timeline completely fills the gap between 1975:GZ and 1995: Metal Gear. Could be a hint towards TPP’s story spanning over 10 years until the Uprising of Outer Heaven.
Hopefully this is the case and we are all treated to ending that shows Solid Snake invading Outer Heaven.

Kojima loves Hollywood. He says that 70% of his body is made of movies (I know not necessarily Hollywood, but still).
he has his own distinctive style. even though metal gear sells well, kojima is not really that of a mainstream dirctor/writer.
This is the kind of ending I have dreamed about for long time :), but it perhaps doesn’t end like this. Whatever Kojima has come up with will be epic closure to his saga :D.
Well I’m glad that you can still send your soldiers on mission… Now to make it more innovative, we need confirmation on the option to join an outer op mission. That’d be pretty cool
