Watch Kojima receive his Industry Icon Award at The Game Awards 2016
During The Game Awards 2016 Hideo Kojima has received the Industry Icon Award. After being blocked from attending last year’s award ceremony by Konami’s lawyers, producer and host Geoff Keighley considered it to be ‘one of the most important things’ to have the famous game designer attend this time.
Geoff Keighley introduced Kojima in a speech in which he talked about what went down last year, and how much it meant for him to give this award to Kojima. “For most of the past year I’ve tried – very unsuccessfully – to give Hideo the award he rightfully won last year for Metal Gear Solid V. […] I first offered to ship it to him, but I couldn’t get the address of his new studio. Then I said ‘I drive this myself out to Las Vegas to personally hand it to him when I saw him in February and he politely declined that. And I soon found out why. He is such a principal person that eventually word came back to me that Hideo just said: Geoff, I can’t have that blood on my hands. He had to move on. And today, Hideo is rebuilding his life and his studio with our support.” Geoff also noted the circumstances under which Kojima had to finish MGSV, locked inside a room with no direct contact with his team. “Like Snake said in MGS, Hideo knows that a strong man doesn’t need to read his future, he makes his own.” Geoff concluded, after which he presented the award to Kojima.

I’m hoping he is in the game. I don’t know why he’s not on the credits though. He’s got the handcuffs and the umbilical thing. Mads got the umbilical thing going on as well that looks like he was powering up the skull crew too much causing him to leak/bleed out that black stuff and when he disconnected he got his full energy back.

I’m 100% sure it’s the official OST. The music interested me as well, I found the way it was utilized very interesting: the closer Del Toro or the camera got closer to the strands of music faded in and became more intense.
Probably from the OST. I don’t know why, but I think Ludvig Forssell is behind the music for this one.

By some miracle i had some time to watch a small part of the Game Awards and i am so glad for Hideo Kojima receiving a long overdue award.
Congratulations Hideo and his team from the bottom of my heart.
Now i usually say for all kinds of Game Award Shows,that the only GOTY-s that truly matter is you own personal ones and i usually go unscathed by some truly questionable award nominees and winners.
But this years award show was by far the most “shocking” and bit disappointing one.
Heck, from the places like Reddit,Tumblr,FB,Twitter and YouTube people are wee bit confused by some decisions,namely Overwatch getting an nomination and later on winning a GOTY award.
I don’t know about you guys,but to me this must be the worse one so far since the year when World of Warcraft and GTA San Andreas won significantly more awards then the likes of MGS3 on that year.
As for me,im currently near Tianjin(North-East area of China) enjoying nice weather and lost a lil bit of weight (preparing for that Christmas food),we will probably be in Hong Kong on New Year,so ill make sure to take picture of fireworks if im able.

Geoff’s speech was really kind. I really appreciated this. Even if Boss never complained, the pain was so huge, I mean I felt it but when they said clearly that they took everything from him…
When Hideo himself says “I thought I lost everything”… And this twist like “but I lost nothing”… “Thanks to all of you”… Very touching intro, wow…
And really appreciated that they decided to clarify things at the beginning of the ceremony… What a BANG, haha !!!
Regarding the trailer itself, the first slap in my face with the Del Torish intro… It was just awesome… I was just like (O_________O)…
The overall theme looks so cool. Mads mesh quality is outstanding for real-time.. I think even slightly neater than Norman’s in the previous trailer…

As for the interrogation about “sticks” variety / range for the gameplay, I am pretty re-insured now. Well we may not have an as exhaustive choice as TPP’s, however the military presence, Mads assault rifle, mmm I am relax now regarding possible sniping tools ;D…
All this is going to rock ! And even more is ahead this week-end with engine details and stuff !

They seriously shat on Konamis face this evening.

Konami was even lucky I think because it could have been much worse / trash after what happened last year, but I believe they wanted to just move on and keep it just decent / turned to the future more than anything else.
Could these 2 trailers be the work of a year?
That’s the most easily show-caseable stuff they can expose so far but definitely just the emerged part of the iceberg. Visually, that may just principally appear like Hideo’s, Yoji’s, Yano’s, and the cinematic team result however there are also less noticeable efforts. More technical ones like making the sample render properly in real-time and in 4K, which are also important efforts for the game as well.
It is probably too hard for them to show anything more technical from the gameplay team(s) because even if they had yet cool playable proof of concepts, they would first need to be really stable and a bit packaged for considering show-casing them.
Maybe we’ll hopefully have some very slight detail however this week-end at PSX, but I think we won’t unfortunately have much more gameplay stuff during next year.
Well, Kojima will be around all weekend. There will be more news regarding Death Stranding. just don’t expect any showcasing beyond this Trailer.
Relax, I am just expecting the engine’s name so far, nothing more. ;D
True. A 5 in-game trailer is realistically all that was possible for them to showcase by now (the fact it looks this good in so little time is another Koji-miracle).
I don’t expect anything more: he’ll probably give us a vague breakdown of what happens in the trailer, how far they are into development and what engine they are using.
Some are suspecting this “DECIMA” is a SP or Guerrilla’s engine derivate, but without further official sources, I am still skeptical… I hope we’ll have some explanation soon ! ;D
I personally think it’s SP engine. The lighting looks a bit similar although vastly improved.
Maybe / very possible… We need Koji-firmation in all cases ! ;D It is too hard to tell from raw shading because a lot of factors are involved, from modeling / texturing skills to shading techniques used. Future will tell, but I am happy with any engine, as far as we have Boss checking the QA and possibly ask his devs to tweak things here and there… 😀

Things i have noticed so far and some of these are quite obvious im sure.
First Mads character is wearing an modern US BDU uniforms,N/V equipment,compass going haywire,M4-A1 custom while the other soldiers which are wearing US Airborne BDU https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/f7c3535402cc00325d1b74488b381f252a33fb56c9b480c18a67e6f6dc314f9f.png unfiroms(note the patch) from WW2 with M1-Garand rifles.
Plus all the soldiers appear to be either sekeletons or kind of sick. So far I’m guessing some kind of parasite. Although the cables on mads seem to be different from the strains on the planes, looks military almost, something like the nanomachines like meryl and her squad in MGS4
