    PC looks incredible!Thanks Fox Engine!

  • LiquidCampbell

    24 fuckin days!
Omg, cant wait for play in my pc!
    Hey, anyone play on steam?

  • MrVux007

I had to comment on this before going to sleep, after a looong night-shift
Holy crap, ALL the version look so close in visuals…im so impressed with what they done last gen versions of the TPP,hell im sure people would mistake current gen and last gen a few times (as far as the visuals go,not FPS performance)… so that said,im sure people on ALL platforms will have the same glorious experience

    • Yeah, the last gen versions look really good. Even on Xbox 360 it still looks great!

      • Lewis

Hey, Nyxus, hi! Sorry for offtopic, but can you add that google document with player database somewhere on the front page? It would really help some people, who missed it in previous posts.

        • MrVux007
          • Lewis

Yeah, I thought it would so much better to make a link on the front page instead of reposting it everywhere.

          • MrVux007

im sure nyx can figure something out

        • Maybe in the links section, would that work?

          • Lewis

Yeah, I think it’s great! And 1-2 days before release, you can maybe make a big post reminding everyone to get onboard. That would be awesome.

          • Okay, added a link!

          • Lewis

            Well done, commander!

          • Lewis

            Can’t stop admiring this community.

          • Snake

He are all Diamond dogs… reedy for it guys 🙂

          • Gatsu

Boss and Golgari I should’ve asked this long time ago, did you have PSN account or gonna play with other platform ? I would just be honored to be able to add you comrades as friends with PSN/Steam and help each other if needed 😉 !

But its okey if don’t wanna share it :D, because its everyone’s free decision ^_^. Btw Nyx, thanks for adding the list and tweet! Love ya.

          • Kojimaphile

“Great job, the folks back at Motherbase will be thrilled!”

    • Ardens Anima

This makes Me a lot happier about getting the PS3 version now.
I’m so glad Kojima released these comparison shots.

      • MrVux007

my friend trust me,if i knew that the game would look this good on last gen and if i didnt own ps4 right now….i would have buy it on a PS3 in a heartbeat!
You will have loads of fun 🙂

        • Ardens Anima

I kinda did, the second pre-order details and release dates were announced. XD

        • Chriss Kama

They’re all the same regardless no matter what.

        • MGSFAN95

Plus, on the PS3 version you can add any song you want to play as your helicopter tune!

      • gerber

Yeah, now I want to see some gameplay samples. I know ps3 will be dropping to 20 fps often but still it’s impressive

        • MrVux007

GZ and TPP are completely games whatsover…one was rushed, the second,we are yet to see….on that note the Ground Zeroes drops (in heavy action parts) to 25 FPS,while most of the time you have 29-30FPS in the game…TPP will be optimized(i hope)

      • Mr. Sir Shpee

I have a friend on PS3 who’s new to Metal Gear and he bought GZ on my recommendation. Not 100% sure if he liked the gameplay, but I’ll have to show this to him.

    • Gatsu

Hey Vux, great to hear from you ^_^! Yes I agree they all look very beautiful :D. Fox Engine is amazing.

      • Chriss Kama

        FOX (echoes)……ENGINE….(echoes)

    • ShalashaskaWasHerSon

The last gen versions in motion won’t look anywhere near as good as current gen. You will see muddy textures and object and detail pop in all over the place. Still though, it shows how well made and scalable Fox Engine is.

      • MrVux007

ofc cuz 30fps vs 60fps duh 😀 …but generaly speaking the visuals pretty darn close(unless you plan on zooming into every single pixle lol)

        • ShalashaskaWasHerSon

Keep telling yourself that. In motion the last gen versions will be exposed. Screenshots are not a true representation. It’s upscaled to 720p and it will drop below 30FPS too. Why anyone would want play a vastly inferior version of this amazing game boggles the mind. It’s the sole reason to own a current gen console This gen so far has been terrible. Bloodborne being it’s only saving grace. Of course until TTP blows it away on September 1st.

          • MrVux007

this gen is just like the last as far as the exclusives go… unless you have played the last gen version of TPP,i will ignore your statement

          • Chriss Kama

            PREACH!!!!

  • Le Guy who drowned quiet

That PC screenshots shows witcher 3 and arkham knight ( shit port ) who’s the boss and it even beats arkham knights lighting which was incredible despite they had to change the graphics for mgsv due to it being cross gen.thank you fox engine I’m sure watch dog fans are crying right now!

  • Mauricio Acosta

Well, Time to invest on a 4K PC.

    • MichaelPayneV

      Wise choice.

      • Mauricio Acosta

It will take time. I am just so used to gaming on my couch that I am also going to put in Money for a good 4K TV, use that as a monitor and build a PC from the ground up. Ohhh man this is going to be insane!

        • MichaelPayneV

I love Mouse and Keyboard, but I think I will play TPP with the Steam Controller!

  • Le Guy who drowned quiet

The PC version looks like e3 2913 trailer

    • MrVux007

      lol

    • 2084, future eighties 😛

      • Le Guy who drowned quiet

        2013 trailer

        • MichaelPayneV

I know. Told you that was not just running on a PC, but that it was the unannounced PC version!

          • Le Guy who drowned quiet

Kojima actually told that it was running on a PC with current yen specs similar to the pax version

          • Le Guy who drowned quiet

Do you know an internet thing called scary maze?

  • Old_Boss_

Getting it on PC & PS4 i’ll be getting a GTX 970 in those next 2 weeks , But damn that lightning on Mother base on PC it looks so good.

  • Lewis

Okay, guys, I’m done. I literally can’t play anything now. No game holds me more than 20-30 minutes in. I think that’s the influence of TPP. I launch a game, start playing and think like “Oh if it was TPP I could do this and this” or “Wonder what would happen if I do this in TPP”. Not even GZ is playble. I defended GZ for a long time being good, and while I still think so, after all that footage from TPP, Ground Zeroes looks like f2p account in p2w MMO. 1,5 weapons, magazines for gadgets. Man, I just can’t wait.

    • PsychoMantis18

      SILENCE!

    • Gatsu

Wow… so I am not the only one who feels this way! I have a hard time to enjoy other games for long and it has been that way for a while. It is the reason I still havent finished Witcher 3 maybe :(.

I keep thinking of TPP and I want it noooow ;C !

      • Lewis

Same here with Witcher. Great game, but with all those bugs and 16 DLC (half of which I think should be in the main game at the start) the passion goes away. Right now waiting for all bug fixes, but if they don’t do it by September, I’m afraid Geralt will have to rest a lot more. 🙂

    • Raven_Sorrow

I know the feeling. I actually haven’t turned on my PS4, nor my PS3, since @Gatsu88:disqus added me :/ and the dreams…. i keep dreaming i’m in-game!!! Days are starting to get slower and longer XD

      • Gatsu

LOL ;D sorry ;C, I haven’t actually turned on my PS4 or PS3 very much either :/. Planning to play some Witcher maybe this weekend, but it is hard to stay really focused in it.

        • angeliquedevive

You too guys hahha! I haven’t opened or played PS4 a long time because of this stupid school and work. Ugh. Mostly sleeping if I’m not at school/work.

          • Xzavier Les Louie Petersen

            ahahahahar aw that sucks lol

        • Ozzman

Trying plat Batman, it worked, tpp back to me when i grap my iphone!
Wish i had that phanton cigar to pass the days faster

          • Chriss Kama

Playin’ Metal Gear Solid right now. Just relivin’ the good old days.

    • Vegas

Whenever I play GZ i feel like starting only with a tranq. on Hard Mode makes it so… boring. I play it without anything on-screen besides the reticle and the gun display (wich means i cant see the enemies behind walls and can’t see if they see me) and i wanted to have a fair challange using this configs but with only a tranq its pretty hard and the missions (specially Eliminate Renegate Threat) are very challenging using only a tranq. I want to be able to receive my own chosen equipment from a cardboard box T.T

    • Chriss Kama

      Hold on bro….hold on.

    • Chris James P

Same here. The ideas in this game are next level shit. Only AAA that’s thinking forward, imo. Nothing in its wake can compare or satisfy, and I started out very skeptical when I read about reflex mode and wall hax. I’ve done a complete 180 and this is the only game I can think of.

      • Lewis

Same with me. I was not sure off wallhack, but then I saw the scale of the enviroment, and understood, that in prev games you had sections you could memorise, but in open world you can’t. And my opinion of slow-mo changed, when I saw that awesome moment in African gameplay, where Quiet shoots off the helmet and you tranq the guy. Never possible without it!

I may sound like an idiot, but what is a final output :$

        • MrVux007

could mean they are aiming for dynamic scaling 1080p

    • Added (the updated the English version of the site).

  • Courban

    Looks absolutely stunning!
Even the Last-Gen Version looks pretty good. I Wonder how they made this….

  • Javier

That moment when the “no focus” looks better.

    • Elias David Gill

That’s my only complaint so far, I think it looks better without the no focus.

    • MichaelPayneV

That moment when you are blind.

      • Javier

        lol

  • LiquidCampbell

    lol

      Love that guy! Kudos!

    • Kojinius

      he’s my hero!

    • John Saladin

Kojima can go fuck himself …. He fucked up the ps4 version of the game

  • Jake

Not trying to be a jerk, but I am not impressed with the last gen at all. Granted I am playing on a PC and graphics mean a lot to me personally, I know that may not be the case for everyone. That being said, it looks meh and I do not feel doing a last gen release does TPP any favors.

I still hope everyone playing on that hardware still has fun though. 🙂

    • FZJanimated

you mean the ps3/360 version or the ps4/one ?

      • Jake

Meant ps3/360, I just do not see people getting a satisfying experience on those platforms, but time will tell. I am ok with being wrong.

  • saow and im not a bot…

    This looks amazing!
Finally a game on xbox one that is 1080p 60fps and looks amazing 😀
    But pc is even better.
Wish mines even run gz low.. XD

  • Venom_Sina

The last-gen version looks really good!!!
I will play the game on PlayStation 3 first, and then I’m going to buy the “Limited Edition” and play the game on PlayStation 4,again with better graphics!!!

  • FZJanimated

i have to say ,overall the ps3/360 looks really great! 😀 i mean in comparison to the ps3-360 version of destiny and dragon age inquisition , its looks fine 😛

  • kuaikukia

This is what I call good engine. Even on old console, the image could maintain the same color like next gen.

  • Chem

the last gen looks great, i’m playin Ps3 and Ps4 versions so i had my doubts about PS3, but this comfirms that will have great graphics as well. i wish i had a good TV, i’m forced to play the Ps3 version in a 480p old ass Tv…

    • no you are blessed in the contrary. i had shitty tv and played gta 5 on it. one day i save some money and i bought a 1080 p TV. i was like a child in front off those beautiful graphics and details. everybody got bored of the game but i discovered it a second time and i was very happy.

  • Timmy Hortons

Holy crap the PC version though, the CRISP, sharpness, definition are just killing me, I’ll be playin it on PS4 wich is still really sick but it still struck my heart to see how beautiful the PC version looks… Seems like I’ll have to invest in a top notch PC some time.

  • Shalashaska

OH MY GOD THIS GAME LOOKS SO DAMM N GOOD EVEN ON LAST GEN!!!! JUST THE ENEMY POP IN ISSUE IS A CRAPPY THUNG BUT WOW IT STILL LOOKS SO GOOD!!!!

  • Shalashaska

can someone pay for my PC :’(

    • MichaelPayneV

I’m sorry, I don’t have enough GMP. You should recruit some High Level Soldiers s and put then in the R&D team, and have them develop a High End PC for you! :))))

      • Shalashaska

Lol ONLY IF I had an R&D team for me :’(

    • Gatsu

      Maybe 😉 …

      • Shalashaska

Shall I give you my adress then? 😉

    • Mr. Sir Shpee

      -20000 GMP (Gaming PC Built)

      • Shalashaska

        WHERE!!!!

        • Mr. Sir Shpee

it’s locked in my basement with Dr. Dre

  • MichaelPayneV

I gotta say, i’m glad that they managed to add the Focus/Improved DOF on PS4 as well, not just on PC, this is great News.

All tough as expected the PC version has much better shadows and Lighting, the difference between PC and PS4 is much, much smaller then in thecl case of GZ.

O.K. Konami, I might buy your MGSV twice this time (release on Steam, and physical Later) if you finally have Mouse Support in Menus, that will make me buy it twice!

  • Alexandre Saccol

It was bound to look good on last-gen. Remember how TPP was originally targeted for PS3 and Xbox 360, and how when FOX Engine was originally announced, there was no “next-gen” hardware to develop for besides guesses with then-powerful PCs? Having current-gen hardware was an asset for KojiPro to achieve 1080p (in the case of PS4) and 60 FPS, but the game was probably entirely developed with the last gen in mind.

This is different from early “cross-gen” releases where they made all the art and thought out all the graphics with current-gen in mind, then just turned down the graphics on last-gen until the game ran at an acceptable frame rate. These kinds of releases end up looking worse than most last-gen games, but thankfully for us, such isn’t the case with The Phantom Pain (as wasn’t with Ground Zeroes, either).

    • muaddib

actually… they had a next gen dev kit at the time. gta v did it either, and it was released 2 years before the next gen ports
      but anyway

      • Alexandre Saccol

Back in 2011? I’m too lazy to search now, but I think next-gen devkits only started rolling out in late 2012 or so

    • exactly. watchdog and far cry 4 were a good example : the game was downgrade for ps3 version and when you look at other games like gta 5 or sleeping dogs, it could have been much better in my opinion.

  • gerber

Impressive! This engine is indeed worthy of the code name FOX!

    • MichaelPayneV

Now that Kojima is no longer at Konami, and that Konami will probably have no use for the Fox Engine as they are on mobile now, I wish Rockstar Games will buy The Fox Engine!

Just imagine a Fox Engine Red Dead and Max Payne!

  • Mr. Sir Shpee

I am very impressed by how good it looks on the last-gen consoles. I’m also very happy to see that the PC version looks good 🙂

  • Shalashaska

I hope they can fix the draw distance for the enemy soldiers for last gen.. what point of graphics if i cant see patrolling soldiers:’( 🙁

    • Tong Ninja

Yeah, the frequent pop-ins as well was an issue in the last generation consoles. Kojima and his team had a LOT MORE time to polish everything for the last generation consoles for TPP compared to when Ground Zeroes came out.

      • Shalashaska

I hope.. i cant count how many times that caused me an alert in GZ 🙁

    • Ardens Anima

Yeah, I personally don’t mind pop-in foilage, textures, objects, lighting, ect…
But the problem I had most was pop-in soldiers. And it’s selective system for which soldiers would be generated or not.

      • Shalashaska

Exactly, I dont care much about the graphics..but the pop in regarding the soldiers and objcts blocking them was a gameplay issue.. i remember using my gun to shoo far off soldiers that icould see just to figure out tgere was something blocking them and some nearby soldiers with nothing blocking them wouldnt load up until too late

  • Danny Patten
    • I saw new stuff in the single player mode, but the FOB part is the same one.

      Have a nice day 🙂

  • Still really insane graphics for PS3

  • Gatsu

Looks fantastic with each platform, just what I would expect from Fox Engine :D! Glad everyone get to experience this glorious game soon!

    • Le Guy who drowned quiet

Looks like big boss just came back after work!

      • Gatsu

Me :O? Noooo, that is Nyx ^_^ !
Don’t let my old name confuse you hehe ;).

        • Le Guy who drowned quiet

So based on your old username I will call you big boss no 88 .happy?

          • Gatsu

Hmm call me whatever you want brother XD.

          • Mini gear

            ishmeal,snake,shalashaska?

          • Gatsu

            John Doe

          • No Place For Hayter

            😉

  • BOBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB

Now I’m worried. I get motion sickness with some games. How they handle the camera and different visual effects can trigger it. Like Uncharted or the Last of Us are completely unplayable for me because of that swaying and blur effect when you move the camera. I get so nauseous and a terrible headache after just a few minutes of play. So this blur effect on the current gen editions has me worried I may not be able to play them. Which is a bummer as I ordered the current gen edition already.

    Fingers crossed.

  • Tong Ninja

So who here is poor (like me haha) and can only play it on PS3/Xbox 360??
Still looks fantastic though for a last generation console! 🙂 I’m happy with this.

The good thing is that I have a great excuse to replay the whole game again when I have enough money to invest in a PS4 in the future.

I have another question as well. My TV is currently 1080P, and the PS3 version for TPP is at 720P. So if I play it on a 1080P TV, will it have a drastic effect on the game graphics wise, because the game will be scaled to 1080P??
    Thanks in advance! 😀

    • Le Guy who drowned quiet

      Me,

    • Boris Leal

      me too…and I don’t care! hahahahah

      • Chriss Kama

        There u go…..

    • MrVux007

i have a friend that plays on a 4k TV with PS4 and he told me that depending on which TV you buy,you may or may not see some drastic graphics drop….its more about resolution or how clear you see things…for example he played Infamous:Second Som which is a 1080p game,he told me that playing it on a 4k TV makes it look like a 720p-900p game, but overall graphics are still beautiful

      • Tong Ninja

        Thanks! 😀

      • ShalashaskaWasHerSon

4k TV’s scale up the 1080p/900p image. With that comes MASSIVE LAG with visible ghosting. Forgot about playing any fast paced shooter. I have yet to see a 4k TV that is good for current gen consoles. Forget about 4K until next gen. I use my 4k TV for movies only.

        • MrVux007

been at my friends house few months ago…played a little bit of Battlefield 4 togather on 4K,everything was mostly smooth with ocasional input lag….if i remember right his was Sony 65 inch 4K TV (probably model KD-65X9004AK if you want to check it out)….while most of the 4K TV have input lag, this is what my friend told me,(he is an tech nerd btw): “Firstly a Hdmi 1.4 cable is sufficient for a 4K TV despite what a cable company may say.
Secondly the best 4K TV for gaming at present is the Panasonic TX50AX802B or AX800 which has input lag of 37ms.

All leds suffer from input lag but if your TV input lag is around 30 – 47 ms that suitable SP games.

However for online gaming like COD you need a set that has around 20 – 38 ms to be responsive enough to not effect your gaming in competitive play. Or it may seem a little sluggish online.

Anything from 47ms onwards will appear sluggish whether its on-line or in SP”

So again its up to the user setup

      • Vegas

I experienced something similar in my TV even tho its not 4k. It’s a shame since a big tv makes playing games really fun.

    • solideater

Well playing on Ps3 have one benefit. If you have MGS the legacy collection, then ps3 is the only platform which have the whole MGS SAGA!

      • Tong Ninja

        Yes, that’s true!
I have them all on PS3 besides TPP! 😀

    • BurntFM

Well, I’m poor and playing it on PS3, but luckily I build a pretty decent computer around 3 years ago so I’ve been running some of the latest games with no problem on my PC. I’ll eventually get it on PC. When the price drops. But paying $49.99 was a mayor factor for me playing first on PS3. 🙂 😐 🙁 I’m poor.

      • Tong Ninja

$90 for PS3 Version of TPP here in Australia … haha

    • glitchbomb

      I doubt it.

  • solideater

    I’ll Be getting the game for PC that’s for sure…. also xbox-360, ps3 and x-one 🙂

  • Daburcor

Every single one of them looks great! KojiPro are going out with a bang!

  • Isaiah

Here I am feeling so good about myself on how the PS4 looks so much better than the rest…………and then I saw the PC.

    • MichaelPayneV

      Haha, true, true!

  • Seems the PC version is capped at 60 fps.. hmm..

    • MichaelPayneV

Yeah, I honestly don’t get that!

    • solideater

No Problem… wait for the mods to find the ini files to increase the max fps

  • MichaelPayneV

Guys, I think I found the True Inspiration for Skull Face. This is an old poster of the Danemark Rock Band named “Volbeat” and this is their band Mascot.
We all know Hideo loves Rock, so this makes sense. Refresh

    • Ravenous

Ooh, speaking of Volbeat, you guys should hear ‘Still Counting’, it’s one of their better songs IMHO 🙂

      • markr96

most of volbeats songs are good (if they are your style of music) but mary anns place and lola mentez are my favourite songs

and im actually rather ashamed that i never made the connection between skullface and the mascot…. im usually rather good at making connections like this haha

  • Metsalker

omg look PC version jesus fuck me…AMAZING!!!

  • RevolverOshawott

What does “900p (final output 1080p)” mean ?

    • solideater

I think it upscale to 1080p.

      • RevolverOshawott

        That means….

        • solideater

It means default resolution of game is 900p for X-one, but through software the image resolution is being increased to 1080p, Up-scaling generally produces blurriness. Ps4 default resolution is 1080p while the PC can go up to 4K.

  • Isaiah

I wish PC never existed. I feel so small. :'(
Anybody have a thousand dollars I can borrow?

    • solideater

Well I have lots of Derbin Points…

      • MichaelPayneV

        And GMP!

    • Mr. Sir Shpee

So you wish that video games had never been developed? Because games are developed on PC.

      • Isaiah

Not this game. It should be obvious by now. Kojima’s brain was placed in a Konami labrotory. Then images, sounds and the story of Metal Gear were extracted from his brain and uploaded onto Bluray discs to be distributed for a full game retail price of $59.99.

        • Mr. Sir Shpee

          that explains it

          • Isaiah

I got a ticket to a free sarcasm 101 seminar if you want it. Lol

          • Mr. Sir Shpee

pls do I hope to get an autograph from the anonymous hacker known as 4Chan

    • No Place For Hayter

No, its good to have it, think of it this way “there is always a better option” having that option does not hurt the quality of your choice it is simply an option for something that looks better. Though agreed it hurts to not be able to have said option, lol.

      • Isaiah

I agree. My comment was only to express, in a sarcastic manner, how jealous I am of those that can run this game at 1080p+ at 60fps. Lol. It’s so glorious that my heart hurts, because I won’t be able to afford a PC like that for the time being.

  • muaddib

i was worried cause, although the gz port was fine and dandy, tpp would be that big, and you know. but what still bugs me is the fps. the glaz and palitz mission was terrible in this case (but the main mission and that michael peña mission was pretty damn good)
i have the feeling that the pop in phantom pain on the curre… old gen consoles was improved. look at the vegetation, nice. and i found it strange the fact that the old gen consoles doesn’t have the “blur” on snake when he aims the gun, but wathever.
the xbox one version is in 900p, but the console automatically changes to 1080p in less movimented areas. but wasn’t planned to run at 60 fps?

  • SnakeEater

Praise be to the evolution of technology, I’m very impressed.
Also of the skill of Hideo Kojima’s fantasy and his works.
    Respect, Soldier!

    • PACOVELI

      Mgs6

  • Limbless

I have TPP in my Steam list already but I’m such a moron I’m still likely to get the PS4 version too because it comes out 28 hours earlier here in Australia.

  • i was afraid for the draw distance on ps3. i knew that the game would look fantastic and maybe the best on ps3, but i was sure that the draw distance would be ugly on ps3 like watchdog or ground zeroes where the difference between ps3 and ps4 was almost only the distance and the frame rate. it looks really good after all ! (sorry for bad english)

  • muaddib

    Off-topic.
A preview for the vocal tracks of MGSV was uploaded on youtube, but not long after (much problaby) konami erased. but for the grace of godjima, the audio was recovered by a brazilian fellow. the tracks includeds are:
    – Sins of The Father;
    – Quiet’s Theme (Stefanie Joosten & Donna Burke);
    – Temas de MGS1, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4 (original version and Donna Burke version);
    – MPO and MGSPW versions.
    https://vk.com/mgsbrasil?w=wall-73712943_151%2Fall

    • Tong Ninja

      Thanks! 🙂
Just listened to the preview for “Sins of the Father”. SOUNDS AMAZING! 😀

Stefanie Joosten does a great job with Quiet’s Theme as well.

      • solideater

I think Stefanie Joosten Quiet theme is better than Donna’s Version..

        • Tong Ninja

Donna’s version is just a cover. haha

Yeah Stefanie’s version sounds more sad. Her voice does crack at a few points in the song, but when she sings, it sounds more raw and emotional which is a good thing. 🙂
Stefanie’s version sounds more fitting for TPP.

    • No Place For Hayter

      Das video is private 🙁

    • Alexandre Saccol

The Donna Burke version of Quiet’s Theme will probably play after Quiet dies or something

    • ShalashaskaWasHerSon

Stick their Youtube sign-in up their ass. Were else can I hear this?

  • FoxTamerMGO

    PC > PS4 > XBOX ONE > PS3 > XBOX 360

    • MichaelPayneV

Glad someone had the guts to say it, sad that i am not the one who said it!

      • Lewis

Ehm…anyone ever had doubts about that?

      • Gatsu

I think we all know it that PC is on top, but I prefer to not turn this article into some warzone between platform graphics (like in the past), which is why I usually avoid such comments :P.

        • J_muse72

That’s what we are for, to preserve the peace while Big Boss is away.

        • MichaelPayneV

True, after all, Peace came with a price!

        • Solid Snakes Revenge

“Can’t we all just get along”. We are all diamond dogs.

        • No Place For Hayter

Agreed, but I doubt many of us here are weird enough to argue about hard facts like resolution and visual detail, lol. We are mature enough to admit certain things are better for certain things, PC has better quality but costs more to have and is not a living room environment and you would need a controller if you wanted to use one, console you get a comfy living room, is much cheaper is the game runs on your console without any worry or fuss, and you know how you will be playing it.

          • MichaelPayneV

“PC has better quality but costs more to have and is not a living room environment”

No offense, but you couldn’t be any more wrong. I don’t have the time nor the patiance to argue now, so i’ll just leave it that way, and let other people on here who have the time and the patiance to argue, people that don’t have a job like me!

          • No Place For Hayter

Lol, nothing to fight about there, if you wanted to actually have better quality than the PS4 you would have to spend more money than a PS4 costs. And usually a computer is not played while sitting a distance from a TV on a couch, yes I know you could hook a computer up to your living room TV but that is not usually the case with computers.

I see nothing wrong with what I said, let alone being incredibly wrong, lol, we don’t have to fight about it, just curious as to what you mean. Also anything that is argued in MGI is called “discussing”, lol, we never argue 😉

        • angeliquedevive

War has changed. It’s all about platforms and graphics.

      • No Place For Hayter

Should have seen my listing yesterday, lol, like I said when I posted it I don’t need the comparison to know it will go.

        XBOX360 < PS3 < XBOXONE < PS4 < PC

    • J_muse72

      4K on PC looks awesome!!
To bad my PC sucks 🙁

    • No Place For Hayter

      Teehee.

    • gerber

Xbox 360 had better framerate than PS3 in GZ

  • Bigbossjack

Looks pretty good. I remember when San Andreas came out on PS2 and I thought the graphics were unreal. The industry has come a long way.

  • J_muse72

    What about the PS2 comparison?!

  • muaddib

and while kojima surprise us with the old gen versions of tpp, the wait for mortal kombat x on the old gen just completed 4 months a while ago
    happy birthday, warner!

  • BurntFM

Welp, I’m glad we finally get a look at the last gen consoles. Now I’m waiting for a comparison video showing the frame rate. I want to see how this will play out on PS3, I don’t want to lose the immersion with wonky action

    https://youtu.be/74eveBPDY5o?t=1h5m46s

  • Mini gear

i could play this with hyper god graphics on my pc ( dang im addicted to those clear textures) buuuuuut i just feel so cozy on my ps4 for some reason. ill probley play pc after like a week or 2

  • H’m

im getting the ps4 version day 1, but il be honest
il take the ps3 versions look on ps4 meaning having min to no
motion blur an depth of field as i cant freaking stand it, i know
therewont be but it would be great if we had a option to turn it off

    • Darby Crash

Well, if motion blur and DOF are problems to you, just buy the Pc version. You can turn them off for sure, and even if you have a shitty Pc I’m sure you can set at least at 720p with better graphic settings than PS3. KojiPro made a fabulous work on GZ Pc port.
I tried it on a 7 years old Pc and runs smoothly on 900p with high settings.

  • muaddib

    how many days are remaining?

    • H’m

      grrrrrrrrrrrr kieferrrrr!!!

      ( but funny, nice job… )

    • korruption

The “FOX” logo in the corner helps too.

    • Chriss Kama

Look at the clock….it says 20 days left.

  • H’m

ya know what looking over these images again i reckon mgs5 scales to well 🙂
coz dammm if this dosnt look incredible still on ps3 n xbox 360…
    kudos to the dev team

  • snakeitachi

I grew up playing MGS on a Sony console so it wouldn’t feel right to play it on a PC. I’m primarily a PC gamer btw.

    • Mr. Sir Shpee

The funny thing is that you’re being upvoted here and then from what I saw on the subreddit everyone saying it’s wrong to play it on anything but PS were getting downvoted to oblivion. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    • MichaelPayneV

Actually Metal Gear started on PC!

      • No Place For Hayter

Yeah, but what it started on is not what is has grown with, nor is it what people know playing it on. I also grew up playing it on Sony Consoles and I also know it started on PC, but to me MGS is a sony thing, lol, even though Kojima is putting it on everything now, lol.

        • MichaelPayneV

MGS1 is also available on PC, so is MGS2, the only 2 big MGS games not on PC are 3 and 4, so yeah!

          • GUN®

3, 4 and Peace Walker. Basically the whole big boss arc is absent on pc

          • MichaelPayneV

What part of “big MGS games” you didn’t understand?

          • GUN®

If you don’t think Pw is a big game you are in denial.

    • GUN®

Ps3 is the only platform where you can play the entire kojima series so I agree, mgs has always had a bigger allegiance with Sony.

  • John Rhogan

The only difference I noticed was texture & lighting detail on the PS3/PS4 comparison shots.

Don’t care about xbox consoles or PC. I can imagine PC modders are gonna have a field day with this, as they already have with DOA5LR (nude mods, anyone?).

    • H’m

Naked snake… ahhhh no! 🙂 lol

  • ShalashaskaWasHerSon

The last gen version actually looks pretty nice. Object pop in and poor distance detail I’m sure will be pretty noticeable though.
The PC version is way the it’s meant to be played. Sharper textures, crisp higher resolution shadows, bigger LOD with very little if no stepping(Aliasing). Look also at those lights in the distance. My GTX 980 and i7 will cream this no problem at 60FPS if the Ground Zeroes like optimization is there. 60FPS at 4K is a very different story.

    • H’m

My $500 console… is the way its MENT to be played for me!!,
without the need to spend 4x as much for graphics il notice for
      about 10mins…

i think my pc is fairy decent, i7, 2x gtx 770, z97 etc but il stick
with my playstation as i always have when it comes to mgs

      • MrVux007

in the end it all comes to preference…no matter how “better” the other platform looks in some areas…

        • MichaelPayneV

True, some people don’t care that much about the visuals, while i do, not everyone has to, just because i do!

EDIT: But again, if you do, that’s a plus for you!

          • MrVux007

Dont get me wrong,i do care about visuals…but i wont be missing much if i buy the game on PS4 instead of PC (IMO)

  • Solid Snakes Revenge

I don’t see a big difference at all between ps4 and pc. Yeah they’ll get some cool mods but I’m happy with my ps4 version.

  • Diogo

Little disappointed with the resolution, everything else look insanely good. It’s an understandable sacrifice. But, you know, all that graphic bullshit doesn’t matter. This game will be glorious anyway. It’s impossible to not enjoy an authentic Hideo Kojima MGS!

  • Darby Crash

    Woah those graphics!
Last gen consoles will go nuclear.
Lightning effects making the big difference just look at pc version :O“`

  • Joaquin Romero Victorica

  • korruption

Gee, dem lights in Mother Base sure lookins real purdy at night on the PC version… Objectively speaking, even though PC wipes its ass with PS4 (minus lower-end rigs), I’ll take the limitations — preference and all… Nice to know that people here are above all of that “MASTER RACE!” bullshit. =]

  • No Place For Hayter

I’m totally ok on PS4, BUT THEM SHADOWS, LIGHT, REFLECTIONS ON THE PC THOUGH! GLORIOUS! lol.

  • Comadreja

Kojipro’s work with the Fox Engine on last-gen platforms seems like witchcraft most foul. I wouldn’t believe it if I hadn’t already seen Ground Zeroes both on PS3 and a modern PC.

  • Ruochong Wu

Oh no, according to the comparison chart the PC version is gonna be locked at 60 fps again. Quite disappointing…

  • scarecrow

Oh my God! I was waiting so much for this
I’m so happy!! PS3 looks amazing! I’m mindblown
    Arigatou gozaimashita Kojima-san!

  • Yell

Honestly, screenshots never do MGS5 any justice. It’s really a game you have to play to understand how pretty it looks, even videos of GZ look smudgy compared to playing it yourself on a big screen.

    • MichaelPayneV

You’re right, playing it at 4K looks better then 4K videos of GZ!

  • Saxon McMichael

I feel like these pics are manipulated a bit, because with any next gen console vs prev. gen console, the next gen look extremely sharp compared to the prev. gen looking extremely pixelated. But when the PC vs next gen comes along, the PC looks sharp and the next gen look extremely pixelated. I am an all around Gamer. I have nearly all the consoles, excluding most of the really old consoles, and I play alot of games on the computer, so I can understand that computers can work with higher resolution and frame rate than consoles. But both next gen consoles can reach 1080p with a some changes to the default settings, along with 60fps.

    • MichaelPayneV

What are you saying, what is the point you a re trying to make?

All i see here is something i would not expect anymroe from Konami, full honesty regarding the product they deliver, and letting you decide!

      • Saxon McMichael

Part of my point was already made when I look back on some of the pictures, but that doesn’t take away from the point I wanted to make anyway.
When looking at the comparison pictures of the next gen vs last gen consoles, you can see an obvious difference in resolution. And the same difference can be noticed with the comparison of PC vs next gen. The last picture shown shows that next gen consoles can get a max of 1080p and 60fps, as with only top rate computer monitors reaching any higher progressive scan rate. So, if then, why does it show that the next gen look more pixelated, while the computer has even higher resolution?
Along with another commentor below showing the computer having a better draw distance. It’s obviously unfair how they compare the resolution and frame rate of the next gen consoles to another rig that can either be worse or better depending on circumstance.

      • Saxon McMichael

Also, if you weren’t expecting truth in advertising from a company that treats it’s employee’s like it’s own personal dystopia, why would they be? If they were being truthful, they wouldn’t have labeled Kojima Productions as Number 8 Production Department, or atleast let Kojima keep his name on his game.

  • SholidOnline
    • MichaelPayneV

Skull Face, turn me up down allready!

  • Ralexion

Im not sure if I am crazy or not, so ill just ask this here: TPP’s graphics are far superior to what we can see in GZ? Maybe not by a brutal leap, but still, something easly noticeable?

I replayed GZ yesterday (in PS4, if it was PS3/360 I would understand), and my god, a lot of noticeable stuff is just ugly, specially in the cutscenes. The models are fine in general, and im not picky about little details, like looking closely to the terrain and stuff, the lightning is still incredible, but wow, just something about the graphics doesnt feel… right. In contrast, everytime I see some new TPP trailer or gameplay, its pretty and detailed as hell. You can discuss about if the base graphics of the game are great or not (I personally really like them), but still, all the textures look like they should, nothing seems out of place, everything feels fine.

Again, im not talking about little details or minor clipping issues, im talking about casually watching a cutscene and saying “why the screws Chico has in his feet look like they are from a different game?”, you know, obvious stuff. I guess its the contrast that makes me notice it the most.

So, just asking, in case im not the only one thinking about this.

    • muaddib

ground zeroes was released 1 year and some months before phantom pain, and gz would be released within tpp, if it wasn’t for konami. so, gz didn’t evolve the same way as tpp. i know it’s not right to call ground zeroes a “demo” or “a beta release”, but in technical terms, the story is different.
yeah, you’re not crazy, and even the people who played tpp noticed the many changes from one game to another, not only in graphics terms, but gameplay, art direction, style, etc.

      • Ralexion

I see, thank you. I also thought about GZ having some “beta” stuff in it since it wasnt originally planned to be a standalone release. It just strucks me so much as odd to see stuff like that in a MGS game. Well, circumstances are circumstances.

Im really looking foward to see those gameplay improvements then. I think the new control scheme is great, but it is also somewhat complicated (for me, at least), and in my opinion there isnt just enough room in GZ for getting used to it really well (unless you run around for hours, which I dont feel like doing). Still, some collision detection and Snake’s “weight” in the control didnt feel that right (he is just a little bit too heavy, and maybe its just me but he seems a little bit lighter in TPP’s gameplays). Or maybe im just imagining things, and its only a matter of getting used to it, I dunno, by this point I kinda “hate” GZ, not because its arguably a demo with a price tag in it, just because I find that you cant actually “train” for TPP in it. Its TPP in controls and gameplay, but doesnt have a single spit of TPP beyond that, and it just makes me confused; its like two different games with the same control scheme and gameplay. You can fool around, but well, its no the same; no Mother Base, no Fulton, no free mode, no buddies, no general customization, almost no weaponry, accesories and gadgets… meh.

Well, now im not only hyped for TPP because its TPP, but also because I cant wait to see the general improvements. Forgive my ramblings and good day ~

        • muaddib

i replayed ground zeroes yesterday in “fuck yeah motherfucker” mode and i noticed some “beta” things, like:
          – in non-rainy day missions, the bad AI just doesn’t change- and seeing the previews and gameplay videos, the AI has improvised, way better, to nother level. i noticed that their senses are far more counted, and their reaction time, far better. actually, some previewers said that tpp’s ai is one the best they ever saw, if not the best
          – there are puddles and mud in all side ops missions that aren’t even raining
          – there aren’t many face fariations for the soldiers, instead of tpp. damn, the pows, excepting paz and chico, are kept with their faces covered the whole time (in the nuclear trailer, there these DD soldiers, with ocelot alongside, with balaclavas. in the gamescom 15 trailer, the masks are gone)
          – big boss’ shadow annoys me
          – the fact that big boss “gained weight” is actually an improvent, but moving in confineted/places is terrible
          – the “air vent glitch” is still there, in all missions
          – if you stun an enemy and he wakes up, nothing happens. you don’t enter “caution phase”, nothing
          – in the main mission, kaz tells you that if you stays in the rain for too long, you might get a hypothermia, what doesn’t makes sense, since this doesn’t happens. this reminded us of the mgs3’s survivor viewer, but looks like it’s coming back in tpp, in a small, homogeneous form
          – the health/blood/regen system in gz is generic, but still feels like a prototype for tpp’s
          – yeah, there’s sometihng fishy about the graphic. a friend of mine tried to run gz in its laptop, it ran at high settings, it’s all fine dandy, but there’s something worng with the rocks, the textures, i dunno
          – this game is glitcy as hell
          – the collision system is really wrong, remember the past mgs, where you put the stunned/asleep soldiers against the wall? well…

          • Ralexion

            In overall, I agree.
-Really looking foward to TPP’s improved and evolving AI. I also read that soldiers can spot you from quite afar if its day and you are on a plain or the like. GZ’s AI is not that bad, just really generic.
-I think I saw some puddles too while doing the “Eliminate the Renegade Threat” mission.
-Yeah, I noticed how Diamond Dog’s soldiers now will have their own face. Its quite amazing, and it will be nice to control a custom soldier, no more generic guys with balaclavas!
-I never really observed BB’s shadow.
-Exactly, I couldnt said it better. The weight itself is not bad, but when you are in a close quarters area, my god, I derp all over the place, camera and character, struggling like an idiot to control both properly. Its just really uncomfortable, I hope it will be better in TPP.
-Going into a vent is horrible, again, I hope this will be fixed.
-I actually think they contact headquarters and put a small caution phase? They say something like there is a threat prowling about. But its not that noticeable, I think the guards just patrol a little bit more aggressively.
-I thought the hypotermia thing was just for the hell of it, you know, just a little attention to detail. It would be awesome to have something like that implemented in the gameplay though.
-The health system is just like TPP’s but blood doesnt stays, I think. And maybe serious injury will be trated differently in TPP, not only with the spray. I read something about fixing a broken arm, written by a TPP tester, and Kojima himself revealed not long ago that the IV you have in the helicopter is for treating serious injuries. Who knows.
-Like I said, something about GZ’s graphics feels terribly wrong for me.
-I didnt encounter much bugs, but its not like I looked for them, so I dont know xD
-Yeah, I hope the collision system is a lot better in TPP too. Not only the sleeping/stunned soldiers thing, you ever tried to jump (using square) against a solid object? It feels SO clunky, and its not animated properly. Seeing how they already fixed the clipping arm animation while you carry someone and sprint, I guess all these little things will be taken care of too. I also hope they fix the hip weapons going through cover and the ground while crawling.

          • muaddib

I actually understand all these flaws, cause it’s the first time an MGS game is entirely made with a properly grapich engine. All other previous MGS games were made entirely with just only one code language, without a decent software- only hundreds and hundreds of pages with hundreds and hundreds of variables, it’s terrible. Keep MGS4 in mind.
When working in the “old-school mode”, you’ll receive, and count on it, a 100% solid, fluid, game, with high frames per second, almost 0 bugs, and without that pre-rendering shit. However, it will cost more than you imagine, and you will work like a dog. But, with a properly build for your grapich engine- these things are used by the entirely industry since, ahh, maybe 2008, ever asked yourself why there are so many crossgen games compared to previews generations? – the amount of bugs, pre-renderings, all this issues, will only be assured by your work, also they’re really easier to work with, and are cheaper. That’s why MGS4 is technically almost perfect: there only codes, working on a single interpreter. Also, MGSV is an open-world.
Try to imagine Konami as the father and KojiPro the pregnant mother of a son: MGSV. Konami couldn’t wait more for his unborn child, so, in a moment of anger and fury (he drinked too much), he kicked KojiPros’ stomach. A moment later, Konami recovered his conscience, and saw the terrible shit he did. Immediately, he carried his wife, crying and dying in pain, to the hospital. surprisingly they discovered that KojiPro wasn’t pregnant of a son, but twins. KojiPro was forced to give birth to the newly discovered son. Unfortunately, the premature baby was born with several injuries. KojiPro and the medics tried everything, but nothing stopped the kid to grown up as a retard, while Konami didn’t give a damn about his son’s health, cause other people, like his family and friends (the “Consumer”), don’t have the slightiest idea of the kid’s mental illness.
They called the retard son Ground Zeroes.
When people keep calling GZ a “deluxe demo” or “beta version” of the real MGSV, no, they aren’t entirely wrong, at all. I paid 99 Reais for the game, the equivalent of 40-50 Dollars for you, and i keep asking me if it was worth of my money.
            – Entering an air vent in GZ isn’t the best thing you could do (okay, it’s bad too, that “collision thing”), but i was referring to an specific bug in an specific air vent. You can do this on all the missions. It’s a funny feature, but shouldn’t be there.

            – Forgot to say, Big Boss’ face in gameplay looks like shit, with only one variation (“showing his teeths”), with worng shadows and looks nothing compared to the cutscenes model. Instead, in the gameplays of TPP, the face looks right and realistic, resembling perfectly the default model.
            – I’m playing on PS3, and for me GZ is pretty glitchy. Maybe it’s the last gen version?

            That analogy. I loved it.

Anyway, I see. Thats quite interesting. Its the first time im seeing that bug O_o Didnt knew you meant an actual bug, getting in a vent without that bug is quite fucked up already xD Like I said, I didnt find any actual bug like that in the PS4 version, I dont know, I never look for them, I just play. I really liked this conversation, again, thank you. Cant wait for TPP, its so close.
