Even for Kojima’s standards, this was one weird trailer. Awesome but weird. I think I liked the MGS 4 trailers better, and I didnt even like MGS4 as much as the other MGS games.. so… I’m kind off not sure if this is going to be good.

    • Nyxus

Hm, I thought this trailer was pretty awesome.

      • CVC

It was awesome but weird, I mean, glittering whales and unicorns… even for Kojima that’s pretty weird. I though the whale was only there to support the ‘Phantom Pain’ ruse. Because it’s was supposedly being developed by Moby Dick Games. But now it turns out that TPP is actually MGS5 and the whale is still in the game… yeah., dunno maybe I’m just talking nonsense.

        • Nyxus

Well we can only guess about these things. But I think the whale, the horn, the horse, and all the other weird things will have a meaning for the story. It seems like hallucinations and/or dream sequences will play some role, it will likely all tie into the story.

          • ObsessedGeorge

That’s right, if you look closely in the trailer, Psycho Mantis has horns on his forehead too. But why does Big Boss have a single horn on his forehead? I simply cannot guess.

          • CVC

Are we sure it’s a horn. Could also be a grenade fragment no?

          • Nyxus

It could be, your guess is as good as mine.

          • ObsessedGeorge

Maybe, whatever it is, could not be removed from his head to avoid fatality. Who knows, we’ll find out in the future.

          • CVC

            Kojima’s words: ‘It’s debris’

          • ObsessedGeorge

Yeah, i watched the interview. If you notice in the trailer, the debris can be seen under the bandage that he has.

        • if that little guy in front of the elevator is some kind of young Psycho Mantis, then the allucinations are probably created by him in his targets’ minds or something like that

  • Hirouakan

IMO the weirdiest thing in this trailer is that rock thing in Big Boss’s forehead in the last seconds. WTF is that? a horn?

    • Nyxus

Yeah… no idea what’s up with that. ;P

  • ObsessedGeorge

Wait, Big Boss fell into a coma in 1972 where he was cloned by Zero.
This is a 2nd coma? And why during Peace Walker he never mentions the
Les Enfants Terribles project or the coma?

    • Nyxus

The coma during which LET was performed was only in the English script of MGS1, not the Japanese. Because of this I’m not sure if it happened like this in Kojima’s mind. It’s all a bit vague.

      • ObsessedGeorge

Damn it, now i’m more confused! 😀

        • Nyxus

Yeah, maybe after playing MGSV things will be a bit more clear. They never really went into detail of how the whole coma / LET thing went exactly. But it is of course possible that Big Boss was in a coma more than once during his lifetime.

          • ObsessedGeorge

So, let’s try to clear some things up. The Phantom Pain is right after the 9 year coma. If BB was in a coma for 9 years, how could he have saved Gray Fox from the prison camp in 1977? The only thing that i can assume is that the doctor intentionally lies to him about how long he is in a coma. That’s why Ishmael says the same thing, because i think he is in Big Boss’ mind. Ishmael doesn’t really exist. It’s all speculation. Now to further confuse you, take a look: http://www.original-gamer.com/article/5358-Why-Metal-Gear-Solid-V-doesnt-fit-in-the-Metal-Gear-timeline

          • Nyxus

Interesting, this is all very confusing to say the least!

I can’t believe that it’s been almost two years since this trailer was shown to us . Time really goes fast but even then, it seems that we won’t have a release date other than 2015.
