Watch the Metal Gear Online trailer with commentary by Kojima Productions LA
Konami has released a new video for Metal Gear Online, in which Robert Peeler comments on the trailer debuted at the Video Game Awards last year. Below is the new information he shared.
- At the beginning the characters can be seen selecting their gear using the iDroid.
- There will be more customization options, weapons and items in the final game than those seen in the trailer.
- In the trailer the teams are 8 vs 8, but the game also supports a 6 vs 6 mode.
- The trailer was meant to highlight teamwork, since this is at the heart of MGO.
- The grenade Snake uses marks enemies within the radius, allowing your teammates to see them from afar and through walls (similar to the marking system in the main game).
- Different CQC moves are available to the player.
- The Fulton Trap, which transports enemies outside the map, was detailed last week.
- In the trailer the objective is to steal an item, but gameplay modes can have multiple or alternate objectives.
- The puppy item is the new version of the dirty magazine from the old games – it temporarily distracts enemies. Originally the team designed a animal magazine, and then a real puppy, but they decided on the stuffed animal since they didn’t want players to go around shooting puppies.
- The ‘E’ in the title has multiple meanings: the ‘E’ from ‘Online’, a ‘3’ (since it’s the third MGO game) and the Japanese kanji character ‘san’ (三), which translates to ‘three’.
- MGO is meant to be more lighthearted than The Phantom Pain. The selfie seen at the end of the trailer is an example of that.
Metal Gear Online will be bundled with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain when it releases on September 1st of this year.

As for this.. MGO is no doubt gonna be the best Online Game after Gta. Anyone disagreeing to that ..should ..just… eat a ..bubblegum.

I’m gonna buy a PS4 for TPP. I can’t play it without it being perfect (yeah yeah PC but I do consoles mainly plus I cant wait 2 more weeks). And yeah I feel bad for Kojima with that leak. He looked so excited in that video too. Little did he know that some dunce at IGN would leak the huge announcement. The announcement that fans had been waiting for forever. Man… I get mad every time I think about it.

It still doesn’t to me. Mgo is intense as well as laid back. Team play is very rewarding. Gta to me, not so much. It’s a bunch of running around. I don’t like that

Well didn’t they say they were considering releasing single player first and then multiplayer like GTA5? They hadn’t decided it yet. I hope they aren’t doing that but 6 months seems like a long time considering how close to the end they were in Jan. I mean September is nearly the end of 2015. The Japanese voice acting they were recording would literally take a few days to get into the game once it was recorded. Ugggghhhh, I really hope they aren’t just delaying this to release both at the same time. Not that we’ll ever know.
Its great when your team actually plays well together, like in the trailer. But most of the time, everyone just runs around blasting and I’m sneaking up on people in a cardboard box. The box really is the most versatile tool in your equipment
Hopefully we can spend the next 6 months meeting good future teammates here on MGI

Im being REALLY honest.. If i was a teammate (that is if i could play mgo) I would probably coordinate and work with my teammates.. Im more of that type whocovers a team mate’s back while he cover’s mine
I use all the tactics i have seen in movies/games of swat/army etc etc etc.. it’s pretty effective too. WAS DAMN EFFECTIVE when i used to play Counter strike – a 2.5KD ratio doesnt come out of no where hehehe .. yea i maybe boasting xD

As gorgeous as MGO3 looks, I’m not getting involved. Had a rather bad experience with MGS4 MGO.

I think the marketing system seems kinda broken. You can just scout enemies from a far and mark them so your team mates can flank them.
Unless they put a skill where they can’t be marked ala The Last of US Anti Marking system.

I mean, does anyone even know how many people I’d have to fucking mock and slam this in their face if it were true? I’ve been on the ‘Gray Fox likely is Venom Snake’ for the longest time and the amount of shit I get from obnoxious, aggressively stubborn and closed-minded people are MIND-BLOWING. I have like a giant mailing list of people told me I was an idiot >_> and all those people I wrote down, knowing that if the time came and I was right, then all those who dared harass me on my fun little acceptance of a theory will SUFFER! A LONG, THUNDEROUS RAIN OF MY TRIUMPH AS I DESTROY THEM WITH MY ANGER AND EXCITEMENT….
Cause, being told you’re wrong and being argued with as often as I have about my simple belief that the theory is (To me) likely what’s going to happen – it pisses me off how arrogant, ignorant and fucking conceited people get when they deny these kind of theories….
This theory might actually get more traction with this, lol (face palm) I’m of the crowd that thinks is it wrong and that if it were true it would undermine the purpose of the game and I would simply hate the story of MGSV-TPP.
That being said there is enough out there to convince people of the theory so it isn’t in anyway retarded to believe despite what I think of it, and that people form all sorts of ideas and theories surrounding every MGS game simply because of the nature of Kojima, so while I believe otherwise I’m not going to bash anyone who thinks so, if people didn’t create and or believe these things MGS launches would be less entertaining.
If it is true I wish you luck on the quest of vengeance (lol) against those who don’t understand simply diversity, and if it is wrong than I won’t be jumping on anyone who believed it because they had good reason too.

…I’m not being arrogant (that’s not what this site is for), but look at the facts: Frank Jaeger, Naomi’s guardian, the cyborg ninja, worked with Big Boss and Snake in the first one. In the second, you fight Gray Fox, and of course, Big Boss elsewhere. Big Boss’s remains are kept elsewhere while Gray Fox is turned into a cyborg ninja who is then squashed in MGS1.
If you count Portable Ops, Null is Gray Fox. You’re Big Boss and you find him.
All of these facts outnumber the one hand placement in the photo. The ear and nose parts are scars, not chopped off parts. The rest of his face has scars too, all from the end of Ground Zeroes.

You make absolutely no sense. How does Jaeger working for BB mean that he can’t be replacing him while he’s in a coma? Let alone I figure it extremely suspicious that we’ve not seen a Single screenshot of him in MGS5 even though we know we run into him and is an important character, we get to see Young Liquid and not Jaeger? Cause that ain’t in any way odd or suspicious. Jaeger magically also becomes BB’s most trusted right-hand Somehow in one game alone. I’d think it’d take quite a bit of work wherein Quiet can save Big Boss and BB’s all like “I’ll kill her in the end lol” but Gray Fox is becomes the most trusted along with Miller? I think Kojima ending with his best will be a good thing. As unbelievable as it may sound, more Metal Gears from him could eventually feel like they’re recycling from past games, or feel like they have less than other Metal Gears, especially after having this huge, open world and tons of options.
You’re right it’ll be better as he will go into another projects(games) like silent hills, but there’s just to many people who haven’t played metal gear and metal gear 2 myself included. I would hope he remakes those two games in the fox engine and that Kojima Productions or other studio remakes the original Metal Gear Solid in the fox engine and Hideo Kojima could be in it as a producer.

i’ve played singleplayer like a hundred times minimum. for the online part… like 10 times? i liked MGO 1 better. MGO 2 was not that much of a quantom leap like MGO 3 seems to be. just my opinion. u all are enlightened to love MGO2
