Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes will be part of the PlayStation 4 upgrade program

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will make use of the PlayStation 4 upgrade program. This service will enable people who purchased certain PlayStation 3 games to upgrade them to the PlayStation 4 version via the PlayStation Network Store for a reduced price. Since Ground Zeroes will launch on both generations, this will apply to that game as well.

The official Japanese PlayStation website that shared the news today states further details will be announced later. Since this has been posted on the Japanese site, it’s still unclear if it applies to other regions as well.

Hmm… I sure would like the limited edition, but then another $10 or so on top of that? Decisions, decisions…

I expect Japan to get a Ground Zeros LE but iffy on if it’ll see a USA release. Phantom Pain Collectors Edition is a guarantee and it will be awesome (as always from MGS).

  • bigshynepo

I can’t wait for ground zeros but right now, all I want is a time frame for the Phantom Pain release. Hideo is the absolute master of the gaming tease.

I just finished the game and it only took 1.5 hours! What a fuckin waste

        Get every trophy?
        Complete every side quest?
Got anything positive to say about it?
It looks amazing that’s for sure.

whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy… i only see a downside to this.. its basically keeping a dead platform on life support.. making PS4 less populated.. which is a bad thing unless your the double pauper who cant afford the PSpoor while only having a ps3.. let old gen die so more people will join us on the new current gen

    • Jonny2x4

Why not? There’s way more PS3/360 owners than there are PS4/One owners. No smart game company is going to suddenly abandon an established user base just to support the latest new thing. Plus, the whole point of the FOX Engine was to facilitate cross-platform development as much as possible.

      • therealestmofo

cause it slows us down.. kills possibilities..its all a down side for us the consumer..but yea for a greed it does make sense

        • Nyxus

It was initially a game meant for last gen. I’m just happy there will be an improved version for next gen as well.

          • therealestmofo

every company who has made an improved version for next gen so far has just meant the most basic of visual upgrades.. i dont care about that.. i want worlds shaped with only next gen and hi end pc in mind.. i want the best games not old gen with 2% after thought to next gen..

          • Nyxus

But that’s my point, MGSV was designed for PS3 and 360, and then ported to next gen. It was never developed as a next gen game. But to be honest none of what has been said makes me think they are holding back.

  • Carmackian

Cool any word on PS4 physical versions and collectable versions in EU and NA?

    • Nyxus

      No confirmation yet.

  • Markos

does anyone know if GZ map will be part of TPP?? I mean, it would be cool to go back to camp omega and find something you left there when playing GZ.

    • Nyxus

Hm, I would think not, but that’s just my guess.

I’ll buy this day one. And all I want is for the days to go faster so that I can get the game

  • PrinceHeir

    awesome 🙂

though it’s probably digital only though :

    • Nyxus

Yes, the PlayStation 3 version can be either disc or digital, but you will only get a digital copy for PS4 through this program.

      • PrinceHeir

        thanks for the clarification ^^

There is no game series to date that can touch the Metal Gear series. Hideo is a gaming God!
