Japanese Voice Actor for Colonel Campbell Passes Away

Yesterday, on April 9 2012, Takeshi Aono, the voice actor who did the Japanese voice for Colonel Roy Campbell in the Metal Gear series (among many other roles in television and video game series), passed away.

June 19, 1936 – April 9, 2012

In addition to providing the voice for Campbell in Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, 4 and Bande Dessinée, he also did the voice for the scientist Alexandr Granin in Metal Gear Solid 3. Due to health problems, the actor had to end his voice acting career in 2010. Yesterday he passed away, at the age of 75.

Hideo Kojima -along with other staff members- posted a message on his Twitter concerning Takeshi Aono’s death, offering his condolences.
