Kojima announces his next game ‘Death Stranding’ with a trailer
During Sony’s E3 2016 press conference, Hideo Kojima walked on stage to debut his next game, titled ‘Death Stranding’. He showed a trailer featuring actor Norman Reedus, which you can check out below. To see Kojima’s introduction as well, go here.
Kojima stated the trailer is running in real time, and needless to say it looks incredible. The soundtrack to the trailer is the song ‘I’ll Keep Coming’, which was also the tagline released earlier this month alongside new render of the Kojima Productions mascot.
From the title card we learn that Kojima is working with Kyle Cooper again, who also worked on several Metal Gear games in the past. Also, the person who is writing the script with Kojima (Hitori Kojima) is actually Kenji Yano, who joined Kojima Productions earlier this year.

True, Python was always right on his main theories, not on the overarching too far theories, but the thing that starts his theories, he was always right on those, and from now i will believe him on the base theories!

This trailer symbolizes not just a game but a new start for Kojima Productions. Look at the scene. Reedus has nothing on him really. He is naked. He is on revenge.

Trailer is running in real time, movie is in real time. What exactly is running we are not for sure.
Specifically about the engine, I think he said the truth. He is experimenting, he has a vision and he did it within VASG studio. Mark Cerny as a TECHNICAL PRODUCER helped obviously.
When you refer to a game with “Running in real time” it means running in Engine, so the same way Hideo said that Ludens is us, he might have lied about the engine too.
Just think about it.
Running in real time, means that all rendering happens on the fly second by second. Textures, Lighting calculations, Dynamic Shadows, etc. As opposed to the rendering in CGI videos, and the like, which do more complex calculations but also take longer to actually display a single frame. Now the trailer might have been pre-recorded, but the actual rendering was done in real time with the game engine. All in all. Who cares XD Kojima is back in action making us lose our minds already <3

Yeah, you can also technically use several game engines in the same game for various purposes (it is easier than it seems, as far as you are properly licensed for all of them). This same scene can also be rendered later on with another engine.
The scene exportation / exchange has so well evolved that the scene graphs, holding even for example physics geometry or shaders and of course animations timelines can be transported within the same file (eg. Collada / FBX).
I guess he was just underlining the quality of the optimization of the scene, for those who could think it is pre-rendered animation. The render engine could yet be the game engine’s but he has all his time to choose another one. Could just be even a simple standalone render engine or a game engine used only for rendering at this time, but not obviously the final one.

So apparently Death Stranding means when a sea creature (dolphin for example) moves to the shore, if the sea creature is still alive on shore he’s called “life stranding” and if the sea creature is dead it’s “death stranding”, that what happens when the sea creature moves from his environment (the sea) to the land (a foreign region). Very deep shit from kojima as always <33

Call me crazy but I think that in the trailer Norman symbolizes Kojima who broke free of the handcuffs of Konami but lost his baby which is Metal Gear. Also the six locks he has around his neck symbolize one metal gear game per lock which Kojima is tied to and can’t leave behind as he stands up to see five men , Konami , vanishing away, Norman looking above as the sky is now the limit. Finally all the whales and fish dead symbolizes us which ended up dead by the five men in the sky (Konami).
P.S. I normally don’t like this kind of stuff but it made so much sense to me. I hope it also makes sense to you guys

SONY killed it this E3(so much great looking exclusives!) God of war,Days gone(my best game of E3 btw),Horizon:Zero dawn,Detroit:Become human,(our boi Kojimas)Death Stranding and even freaking “Spiderman” looks like a first spiderman game that i will play in years.
The reason why Days Gone is my favorite one from techical standpoint is cuz i never seen so much NPC-s move so fluidly in an open world game….and just look at those freaking numbers….Totaly reminds me of World War Z on that train wagon scene (i think the movie was called like that) and Walking Dead ofc (daryl biker reference).

Mate, judging from Hideo’s interview with Geoff, it seems (like it seems), Hideo confirms he wants a game for a Hideo’s fan. I am probably unconsciously dreaming it, but when he answers “everything is moving forward in parallel” and stuff, he looks very confident in aiming at a huge result, even with a tiny time-frame. Although I don’t like the idea of him rushing things just for us unless Sony giving him enough assets to do so (it seems they are doing it, the beginning of the trailer tells a lot about their rock solid partnership). Let’s hope he’ll be lucky enough in the dev for us to have a lot of stages.
He also mentioned they are performing heavy tests on the gameplay, YUM ! I hope he isolated most of what he wants !

The first one looks like the Schwarzschild radius, the another one I have no idea.
The Schwarzschild radius is the boundary which a object can escape from a black hole traveling in the speed of light. Actually the definition is more than that, but it is the simplest definition of this that I have heard.
at first glance they looked exactly like these USB sticks, haha. maybe they ARE thumbsticks and Norman Reedus has to find a terminal on the beach he’s washed up on and see what type of information is on those 6 USBs. they could hold the information to why he’s “stranded” on the beach. keys of life itself maybe. it’s got a sort of PROMETHEUS and LOST vibe to the whole trailer.

Probably the biggest surprise of E3 to see Kojima show up, and actually reveal something so soon. Got me real excited. Also that entrance is something to remember, that was just ridiculous, fucking blasting the Mad Max soundtrack with a live orchestra.
Teaser was really good as well. Excited for this rebirth for Kojima and his team. Super cool imagery with the people floating in the air, the weird sci-fi stuff with everything being hooked up to cables. Game’s probably real far off, but I can’t wait to learn more about it.
HIGHLIGHT OF E3
The trailer of Death Stranding can be about more than just the story in the game. Think about the Kojima/Konami fiasco. You see a naked man, symbolizing Kojima, striped bare, with nothing left after he broke up with the company. He awakens in this shore of dead creatures, symbolizing the industry of games, where they keep getting sequels mainly for the purpose of profit and lose quality in this process represented by the oil. By his side is a baby, his son, the Metal Gear series, which he sadly holds for the last time as it fades away leaving a trace of oil like the other decayed games, which can be the future of Metal Gear in the hands of Konami. The man wears only a handcuff with the other half free representing his broken tie with Konami and six dog tags, the same number of main Metal Gear Solid games: MGS 1, 2, 3, 4, PW and V. Kojima was connected to the baby by a black artificial umbilical cord, but after the baby fades, the man wakes to show a scar in his navel, since the forced departure of his son left this mark he will carry for the rest of his life. In the sky are these individuals, hovering above, almost godlike. Kojima has fallen, as the trailer begins with him lying on the ground. By losing Metal Gear it’s like he lost his “god” status (it’s a known running joke that some fans and even he himself would call him as a god). But now he sets his eyes on those gods, fearless, as it will be another journey to reclaim that status. The song, too, reminds us. He’ll keep coming back. You saw this theory first here, heh.
