Kojima teases Metal Gear Online title screen… and it features a fish hat
Metal Gear Online is about to be shown at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, and Kojima has teased a photo of the game’s title screen on Twitter.
“METAL GEAR ONI?”
You may be wondering: what on earth am I looking at? Well, probably a character with some… interesting customizations. Maybe this is some of the headwear suggested by fans?

You can see the title screen is similar to the one for The Phantom Pain, except your character isn’t sitting in the chopper but in what looks to be an African environment.

Is it crazy to imagine extra maps for MGO ? Maybe the thing never done so far in game industry is to make the solo mode progress as you progress online !? It would make sense to then unlock omega ? Am I too much dreaming here ? Maybe it is why omega is not yet in da box ?

Sorry they are mine too. I also have the feeling that Omega is extremely well polished for ultimate MGO battles and since Kojima said we will use it with TPP client, plus combined with the fact that people saw omega assets in TPP install… Maybe we will have not that big goodies but I am sure top-notch surprises.

We have to accept that the content has been cut and will never be in the game.
We also have to receive few other unveiled goodies to come. I am not thinking about extra cut-scenes but raw missions. On a tech POV, missions are bunch of parameters associated with assets. You can see it yet in what we received. Extract this guy, grab this intel, etc… If the extra content we’ll get online can’t be used in solo campaigns, fine, but it wouldn’t be technically so difficult to get at least side-ops list updated with missions to be played in assets delivered with MGO.
Tons of gamers don’t play online. Most people who bought the game won’t even touch mgo

The game isn’t “incomplete”, stuff was cut and that sucks, happens all the time, and without actually knowing exactly all of the content that was cut, it is a difficult subject to discuss tactfully and easy to make baseless accusations justifying why a subjective art piece didn’t meet your own personal standards.

To paraphrase I believe you said in the files there is proof that chapter 3 exists (or will exist), and since there isn’t any it kinda seems like confirmation bias trying to “justify” the existence of a mystical batch of content that will satisfy people’s personal qualms with the game.

#2. I’ve worked as a long shore man on and off for most of my life in the ilwu, and have personally loaded these container ships. Yes that’s a huge loss of cargo but that is no guarantee there was a huge loss of life or anything.

I never saw this menu but the “O” of operations is visible through the fish’s nose area. Even if it is photoshoped, the engine is definitely able to achieve this.

Well I’m going to play devil’s advocate. Short answer: don’t bother.
There is no missing chapter, stuff was cut – that sucks, happens all the time. I have not seen a single piece of compelling evidence that suggests this, just logical fallacy. When you step back and look at the game objectively, the way the game ended makes sense (to me at least), fits perfectly into the themes of the narrative and of the series as a whole. I won’t explain here, I already wrote a wall of rambling on why I loved it (and hated it simultaneously) on the spoiler forums. Yes, many factors acting outside of the creators power/intention can effect the piece, but that is part of the art, arguably the most difficult part – working with what you have to fulfil your vision. Maybe it wasn’t what Kojima envisioned when the project started but he had the creative freedom to end the game how he wanted with the resources he had available and he did it the way he thought appropriate and regardless of our subjective opinion on the game.
Ignoring the technicalities of why they would never re-release the game and focusing on the artistry. It just seems rather “entitled” (hate that word) to want to force a creator to alter his artistic vision so it aligns to your own. In essence I believe if you hate part of an art piece, it’s perfectly fine to hate that part of it (or even the entire thing, as long as your opinion is derived from flaws that objectively subtracts from your subjective interpretation of the artistic vision), instead of trying to ask them to change it.
So summing up: the game is complete as it is. If you don’t like the content that makes up the sum of its parts, that is fine as long as you have valid criticisms. Don’t need to go looking for proof of a mystical set of content that will fix all problems with the game, or go on our knees begging Konami of all people for it – for DLC. Ew.
This isn’t directed at you by any means so please don’t be offended, alot of people share this sentiment and I just needed to rant.
The problem is, this game IS grossly incomplete. With and without Chapter 51. It isn’t entitled to expect a complete experience from someone who has delivered some of the most consistently good games for years. It is clear between Kojima and Konami, patience, money, and time ran out, resulting in a solid build of the game that doesn’t include most of the narrative development.
Well I believe it is a subjective thing. As you stated the metal gear games have been “consistently good”, but not all people would agree, everyone has there own opinions on the game(s) . I think the game is complete as it is, it leaves more questions than answers certainly but upon contemplation after the fact I found the narrative quite affecting and thought provoking – again, just my opinion that very few people seem to share. But the only objective fact that we know is that there is no definitive proof that the game isn’t complete, only hearsay, seemingly broken “promises” from Kojima, the Konami vs Kojima debacle and cut content – all occurrences when viewed separately by their own merits fail to hint at the narrative of this whole debate.

Yes there is. Mission 51, it was cut from the game leaving massive plot threads unanswered and unexplored, the game isn’t complete because mission 51 wasn’t there. And this is where the “cut content” and “missing content” comes from, if such a crucial story mission was cut from the game what else didn’t make it into the final product? And of course this only highlights the absence of story from the game.

Don’t get me wrong I love this game but… It’s not finished. If it ended with Chapter 1, maybe, but Chapter 2 ends abruptly and doesn’t finish not just the Mission 51 thing, but as well as a few subplots. There was a Chapter 3, called “Peace”, and it is rumored to have been about connecting it to MGS1 (which would be vital considering out of the 6 “Sons of Big Boss” from MGS1 only 3 appear) this knowledge was data mined from the game’s PC files, there are a few articles around the web about it.
Rumored… Yeah. People are just upset and that is fine: it’s okay to feel nothing but abhorrence and disgust at even the thought of this game, it’s normal. The fact that it leaves more questions than answers is a legitimate problem for some people. This game was marketed as the missing link in the entire franchise that will plug every plot hole in the franchise – and the retail game didn’t, it makes 100% sense why some people would be upset. The problem is when people start to invent theories after the fact to give a simple black and white reasoning to why the game isn’t what they wanted – the gaming industry is a turbulent business, and with business more often than not the black’s and white’s continually blur into the same shades of grey where no one can really discern what the hell any of it means.
You have a point for the most part. However, when I said “doesn’t finish not just the Mission 51 thing, but as well as a few subplots” I was talking about everything teased and shown in this game alone. I wasn’t referring to the “plug every plot hole” because in my opinion, it did what it had to. However, it then proceeded to add things that went unfinished, the blatant one being Mission 51, obviously. The other ones were more like teases that never end up mentioned again, or never resolved.
i.e. “The ocelot’s aim is off today.” If you know what scene I’m referring to, then you know what subplot I’m talking about right now. The problem is there is no end to this game: just a sad ending to a character subplot that was entirely optional, and a twist that really didn’t add anything to the story. (Although I, unlike most people it seems, love the twist and find it’s implications on MG1 charming.) The bigger problem? This is Kojima’s last Metal Gear. Only he knows the answers. A new guy can create his own, but only Kojima truly has them.
You can argue that it’s what people thought the game was versus what it turned out to be, but you would have to be incredibly naive to believe the game’s narrative is anything near “finished”. You can’t leave what Mission 51 answered out of the equation: it implicates future games. As a stand alone game with an inevitable sequel coming soon I could understand. But this is Metal Gear – a game released once every several years that always introduce their own COMPLETE stories.
I think Kojima himself don’t have the real answers neither. TV series or movies are pushed to extreme. Kojima can infinitely keep inventing MG just for us and I would love it. KCE apparently and unfortunately don’t want to ride the roller-coaster any further. I mean he kept elaborating the story since the very first MG and never failed at it. PW was not written in advance, nor was the first MGS or SOL and SE.
What I meant was, only he could answer. I would only accept his answer. And as evident by Mission 51 and the possible Chapter 3 there was much more written for MGSV that meets the eye, so he may have some answers. The ones I want, anyway.

I think the problem is also that this is it, there is no other Metal Gear game that will contextualise the TPP narrative wise and thematically, like MGS2 – when it came out it made barely any sense when compared with the prior games and seemed really out of place in the series, until the sequels came out and tied it all together. The game kinda dropped a live grenade in our hands and ran off, leaving us fans to theorise – but is that really a bad thing? Subtle foreshadowing and sensible plot devices have never been Kojima’s forte: people complained about why the hell is a vampire in MGS and then Kojima explained it all with the nanomachine nonsense, there was the MG2 retcon, there was literally no need to explain Quiet’s clothing, and many other stuff. So based on the past games and TPP Kojima is quite prone to explaining random occurrences with even more random explanations to justify said randomness. So most of the “unresolved” plot points, like Mantis’ shenanigans, Eli’s Lord of the Flies fantastical remake and CodeTalker’s ramblings, I just rolled with it, ‘cus parasites…

See, that’s why Metal Gear Solid 4 is he worst Metal Gear imo. Kojima explains the seemingly supernatural with nanomachines, and it was as you put “nonsense”. When you have such a great supernatural character in Psycho Mantis, why couldn’t Vamp just naturally have that ability? Ocelot’s father was a medium so it built on the whole “Liquid Ocelot” thing cleverly until “naw self-hypnosis and nanomachines” lol.
I found myself saying these parasites are a lot like the new (or rather, original) nanomachines, but it’s how subtle they do it in this game that makes me enjoy this game so much. (A parasite that can control bugs? The Pain?)

Ok, i equipped the butterfly emblem after konami’s advice on preventing the “Quiet bug”, but now i can’t unlock mission 45 that i presume it’s her final mission, i unequipped the emblem but nothing happend, what do? I’m doomed to replay everything from the start or can i do something? I still have to do mission 46, don’t know if it depends of it.

You dont need to take off the emblem to do mission 46 which is the true ending, but if you want to do mission 45 then take it off, go do a mission and when you go back to ACC sideops 150 should trigger and when you go do it mission 45 starts. And after mission 45 you wont have Quiet as your buddy, so yea if youre okay with that take the emblem off.

Amazon sent me two codes by email, but I could rescue only one on the PSN. However, it doesn’t have the MGO items. Have you been successful in redeem items from the MGO?
The other code has 14 characters, the format it is invalid for PSN, and I do not know where to use. He will be redeemed inside the MGO?

So one is for MGO (it isn’t working yet because the game isn’t out) and the other includes all the DLC that’s supposed to come with the collector’s edition. But for the UK, it seems some of the DLC wasn’t included and has to be sent to you by the store.
