Number of owned nuclear weapons in MGSV – May 26 update
Following up on the graphs released last week showing the number of nuclear weapons owned in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, ‘J’, via the official Japanese Metal Gear Twitter account has shared some updated charts for the month of May (up to today, May 26th). We can see that on PS3 nuke numbers have been going up and down for the past few days, but generally stayed around the 850 region. PS4 went up to around 2150. Xbox 360 is still around 305, while Xbox One retains the lowest count of all, with only 140 nuclear weapons at the time of writing. Steam saw a big increase and is still by far the highest with around 8490 nukes.
The exact count as of today is:
PS4: 2153
PS3: 844
Xbox One: 140
Xbox 360: 305
Steam: 8486
Since last update:
Number of nukes went up
Number of nukes went down

Why the sudden attention to the number of nukes? After all these months without updates to the game?
New community manager, that why.
Correct, Japan has a new community manager (this ‘J’), and it might also have something to do with E3 coming up, meaning Konami wants to draw more attention to the Metal Gear series.
Fingers crossed for a 30th anniversary edition of some sort
Yeah let’s hope something will happen later in the year. They have to do something!
30th anniversary all mgs games coming to pc would be great.
That exactly what I want, MGS is such a franchise with almost 30 years and it deserves a platform where it can exist without one having to worry with backwards compatibility.
Wait, Rob is gone?
Yep.

He never erased Kojima Productions LA on linkedin (still there)…
Well he still worked there, so it should be on his resume.
Right, but most of them precised (Konami) whereas he did not.. Salute.. He is still mentioning KP right now.
Yeah same with his Twitter profile. 🙂
He is a great CM.
I am actually surprised people are still trying to build nukes and attempting to dismantle them!
You can blame achievements for it.
Not really, there is a trophy for making a nuke and one for dismantling it, so that shouldn’t change anything.
Except that now that it is an online development item people can be offline when they finish and have their nukes built for the achievements stolen by players to keep.
Strange to see how all this nuke stuff is boiling up again near E3… Is Konami trying to beat around the bush ?? ;D…
GEE I WONDER WHY THERE ARE SO MANY ON PC
It’s a great mystery <_< xD.
Steam users just want to see the world burn.
Bi-weekly reminder to play MGO. Only the good players and team players remain. The game is amazing when you get 10-16 people playing. Sneaking and camo actually work and you can play it almost like a single player mode,. Crawling in bushes, ambushing people, stalking them. Some of the most fun I’ve had playing a multiplayer shooter. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/e67478737c39592347ce1d08b17ebf221d28ec18fa48fd88edd458cddaf87450.jpg
You can play it as call of duty and get destroyed or you can play it as a literal Metal Gear sneaking mission and dominate. Great team tactics are always at play as well. It’s not perfect and there are too few levels but I still really enjoy it. It’s a great combat game.
Do you play this on pc by any chance?
Yea
[Off-topic] For those like me who still play TPP, but wished there was more variety when it comes to side-ops, there is now a mod that adds 50 new side-missions. These are actually pretty cool missions, since it mixes things up, prisoners will not be in the most obvious places, heavy infantry roams the side op area and other changes that make you think a bit differently.
Does this Nuke stuff have anything to do with the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Survive?
No,not that we know.
Maybe they want to revive some MGSV interest since Survive is still supposed to be part of the MGSV ‘experience’.

I’m really thinking of going back to MGSV after uninstalling it and all.
How does the nuke system work? How do you make and disarm nukes? By invading FOB people?
All I do is set up defenses and hope for the best. And if someone invades your base, how do you go back to your base and defend it? I see people controlling Snake himself trying to kill the intruder. Is it by luck when someone invades and you have time to stop it?
You can find an extensive FAQ here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MetalGearAntiNuclear/comments/50qzp5/fob_101_everything_you_need_to_know/
Thanks! This is a huge help.
Disarming all the nukes is the only way to unlock the final chapter. Chapter 3: Peace. We know this to be fact. Will there be more game play? Since Kojima and Konami parted ways I would say it’s unlikely. Though it is entirely possible that Kojima and his team built the final chapter to be server unlocked and downloaded after. This way it could be finished long after release. Too bad Konami are idiots and bailed on the vision to do something so Metal Gear that that people actually reset their machines or plug their controllers into port 2.
I can’t remember where I had read it, but I am pretty sure that Kojima said that story-wise TPP is completed. There’s no chapter 3 as a mission-based storyline. Chapter 3 is a cut-scene. That’s it. Yes, there was mission 51, but if you think about it what this one little mission will add to MG lore or TPP story? Nothing big.
Perhaps there will be a Chapter 3 title card but yeah, people shouldn’t expect any additional gameplay.
Well, as I always understand it, basically Chapter 3 is multiplayer part of TPP. Meaning that while we’re playing online, trying to create, steal or destroy nuclear weapons, Chapter 3 will continue to exist as a creation of all TPP players. And eventually we’ll see “Peace”. That’s my understanding of Chapter 3.
“Target location confirmed” 😉

Does anyone know where you can download all MGSV cutscenes in high quality? Youtube isn’t the best.
Gamersyde has the E3 2014 and 2015 trailers in really good quality. Sadly, they don’t have the GDC and E3 2013 trailers.

Thanks, made an account! Too bad they don’t have everything.
Mmmh, hard to find.. Are you after 4K ones ? There is GZ in 4K / 60Hz on YT but not watermark free… Regarding TPP, there are few 1080p / 60Hz that don’t look too crappy after all… But not an easy one, good luck !
1080p is fine but the problem with YT is that it gets compressed a lot. It’s not the best quality if you want to take stills from it.
Youtube ones are extremely smashed for streaming indeed…
Unless somebody published cool ones like NegaScott’s Gamersyde link somewhere (would represent ~100 Gb for the full movie at this quality), and if you don’t feel like going DIY on a PC version or something, you are pretty out of options for now. Good luck again.
Yeah. Well then YT has to do for now, plus those GamerSyde clips. 🙂
Just checked, agreed that YT’s even at 60fps snapshots look nuts even if all plays fluid.. 🙁
I’ll also try to keep an eye on the matter. If any update, please share ! ;D
I need this in my apartment ASAP but with chips and snacks add-on.
