New Metal Gear Survive trailer shows off co-op action… and Metal Gear RAY

Konami has released a new trailer for Metal Gear Survive showing off a lot of co-op action. You can see the various melee weapons, long range weapons and defense equipment being used to keep away and kill large groups of enemies at the same time.

The trailer ends with a new reveal: the appearance of a Metal Gear RAY. As Metal Gear fans will know this weapon first appeared in Metal Gear Solid 2, which takes place decades after Metal Gear Survive on the series’ timeline, but in a game that features worm holes, zombie-like creatures and several elements from further up the timeline, perhaps it isn’t all that surprising.

Twitter user YAMA_RD also shared some video of the Metal Gear RAY in action.

An open beta is currently available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The full game will release on February 20th for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

  • After the beta I will repeat again. They need to turn this game to a Battle Royale game. Than they will have huge success with it. For now, it just works but they have a lot of potential.
Epic Games turned it’s zombie game to a Battle Royale game, I’m sure KojiPro devs can do that too.

Not as simple as it sounds to get a massive multiplayer thing to work on a large open world map. They’d have to tinker with the FOX Engine quite a bit to get things to run smoothly. It also wouldn’t fit in with their plans to get you to purchase resources via microstransactions so you can base build. So even the monetization would need a rethink.

ray randomly popping up in that mode sounds like a cool obstacle that could pop up

And thx for the feedback !

  • Where is all the hate that was there when this game was announced? With every news about this game we get info that this game just another cash grab. And there is no more people that write: “Not MGS without Kojima”, “Fuck you, Konami”
All I see now is: “This game is good, but it could be better”
    Are you serious?

    • There are still plenty of people who write things like that. Just look at the rating of that trailer on Youtube.

Plenty of people still hate it and myself included, but I don’t bother writing those things anymore, I’ll just not buy the game.

        Yeah what you said.

Well, I guess there is an easier way of saying things without writing 6 confusing paragraphs, I might learn how one of these days, lol.

I’m guessing they either are not letting their bias/hatred affect their articles or are not really into Metal Gear enough to care. That’s all. You can see the hatred for this game with people in the comments section though. Why are they reading the articles in the first place is beyond me, because, if I remember correctly, they said, “I’m done with Metal Gear and I’m done with Konami.” And this was years (YEARS, mind you) ago. Yet, here they are, again, still complaining (STILL) … I just don’t understand it, especially when Kojima himself moved on. You would think they would move on as well, apparently they haven’t …

I still hate this game. But now, having played it, I can say it Objectively without people saying shit like “you hate a game you haven’t even played yet?!” So my dissatisfied, underwhelmed hate for this game is legitimate. Even my own son thinks it’s a boring game.

You made me smile, and as such, I will explain my point of view, in a very angry way because i can (lol), I’m not actually mad, but I feel strongly about this whole thing so I’m going to use a lot of strong (*COUGH* curse *COUGH*) words.

I’m apart of the crowd you are talking about, I will NEVER touch or BUY, or even PLAY anything EVER from Konami and the absolute shit hole of a company it is.

MG surfife, is an absolute piece of shit and so is Konami, and that will never change, that is of course IMO, if we wanna jump only to facts, nobody knows if survife is a good or bad game, but what we do know is that Konami is a absolute top tier shit hole company and nobody should ever support them even if they want anything from them, most people are to selfish to see past the simple point of “i want this, so ima gonna buy it” they don’t see the kind of shit they are supporting with their money, and they are to dumb to care.

There are 2 reasons you don’t see people raging about surfife a lot anymore.
      1) a lot of people are cucked spineless pieces of shit whom act on impulse and scream “FUCKONAMI” but the very next day look forward to and buy the next MG game by konami, why? i don’t know, they are pretty fucking stupid, and somehow convinced themselves that it is OK to buy anything from Konami, but most likely because they simply don’t give a shit.
      2) People have nothing more to say, this is where I am. Konami is shit, what they make is shit, i will never give them a minute of my time, or a penny of my money. And that’s it, repeating that as much as a can serves no purpose other then to start fighting with retards that like surfive, and to waste my time complaining about Konami. Basically anyone whom hates surfive or konami is not going to waste their time and effort complaining about it, unless they do have too much time to waste, lol.

I leave the discussion about surfive to those interested enough in it to actually have discussions, anyone popping in to shit all over surfive or konami, is usually not contributing to any conversation of interest related to surfive and is usually just clogging shit up with their incessant need to shove their hate down the throats of others while contributing nothing of value. I say “Usually” because despite it being obvious and huge, not everyone is aware of how shitty Konami is as an employer and a business, and someone jumping in to shit on konami or surfive would open that line of questions, leading to actual important discussion, but I’m not going to do that, as I would not want to try to enlighten someone to information that is easily accessible and obvious and VERY connected to the topic at hand, BECAUSE either they should already know, OR they should be smart enough to have enough ports of information to come across and look up this information and find out themselves without having to find out by people raging about it in comment sections.

Just be aware of 2 things.
      1) People jumping fences is something a lot of people always do, and I completely agree with you it is beyond fucking stupid and shows no willpower or respect for anything other then themselves, but it is a common thing.
      2) That #1 is far from always being the case, a lot of the time (like myself here) haven’t jumped fences, but have simply stopped promoting their opinion. Remember what you see and read on the internet is far from people are feeling and doing, the internet only shows the loudest and trendiest things and peoples, there is no place you can find where the silent masses are crying out their opinion to be apart of the internet information

But yes we are still here, hating Konami and Surfife

      TL;DR
I’m smart enough to never touch Konami or surfife
but I’m not dumb enough to post “FUCKONAMI, SURFIVE IS SHIT!” ten times in every article about surfife.

P.S. Yes I intentionally misspelled “Survive” as “Surfife”

It’s like they’re trying to sell it as a Dead Rising-esque game. “Look at all the crazy weapons you can build to take down the zombies! Listen to our fun retro pop! Aren’t we wacky?”

Which… isn’t really that representative of the game, I’m assuming.

Although, maybe this confirms that we’re getting more licensed music? I wouldn’t have expected Konami to shell out for something like that, but I also wouldn’t think they’d just license a moderately popular song just for an ad.

The only really enjoyable thing about this trailer is the choice of song.

I wonder how much in licensing and royalty fees Kocknami had to pay to include Ballroom Blitz in this trailer.

On another note, I’ve said this before, but it’s too bad that the Bow and Arrow weren’t included with TPP as a weapon of choice. It only makes sense to have it in a stealth game, much less Metal Gear Solid. Just ask Lara Croft.

I suppose RAY being shoehorned into this husk of a former MGS game is out of desperation. While a little cool, it’s probably not going to be enough to corral MGS fans into playing survive for the long haul. They could have included this stuff on side missions for TPP.

I’m playing it regardless of Ray

So Ray is essentially a summon? Probably requires resources?

Resource is kuban energy, the stuff you get from every kill and loot from the world and get a shit load of each MP mission.

Does anyone know how to communicate in ps4 without a headset, sort of like what DICE does with battle field/front also how do you make poses, like a salute or dancing, because I can’t seem to find how.

If you are interested in sending your voice through, an option is to use the PS camera’s mic if you have one, but the sound quality won’t be optimal.
Otherwise, I did not check it myself, but if you are interested in just sending text, then maybe a simple USB keyboard could do ?
      Good luck

This trailer’s choice of music. *sigh* Ballroom Blitz, is very fitting. It was used by the Frankenstein of a project Suicide Squad. It gives me the same stomach-churning feeling watching this trailer and the bit I played of Survive, as watching Suicide Squad before I had to turn it off. So in my opinion Metal Gear Survive is the Suicide Squad of video games. LOL

Moriarty claims that Konami blacklisted IGN US over what then-producer Dave Cox and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow developer MercurySteam believed was unfair treatment of the Lords of Shadow games.
