Figure features
Venom Snake, the playable character of “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain” is proudly recreated as 1/6 scale statue.
The painful scars suffered from XOF attack in the end of “Ground Zeroes” are faithfully sculpted on the face, and the skin texture is very realistic. Furthermore, the paint technique enhances the character’s aging facial expression.
His combat uniform has an amazing amount of details from the subtle wrinkles to the complex camouflage paint pattern. Every detail of this character has been captured faithfully by all artists involved.
The small accessories, such as porches, belts and water bottle, are made by hand whereas the rifle and bionic arm are sharply sculpted by digital.
Venom Snake can be displayed with or without the scarf according to your preference.
The display base is the same stage as the Quiet statue, the Aabe Shifap Ruins.
This is the ultimate Venom Snake statue, combining both his relaxed posture smoking the Phantom Cigar and capturing his tension keenly scanning the environment.

Ha, sorry for the possible fake joy… Posted it to fast / thought it was the release..
Saw it randomly in the news and it was fresh.
Well, they gave a release window at least.
Sorry again dude. Hit google news section just to check and … (o_O) .. My smartphone background… PAINTED … Let’s call Boss ! 😀
Holy sh**
I just bought a figure, but with this they will be two
I expected it slightly little less matte in some skin’s areas. But surely gorgeous…
What a gaze…

As Gecco describes it: “…combining both his relaxed posture smoking the Phantom Cigar and capturing his tension keenly scanning the environment.”
Each time I see this statue, and whether painted or not, I hear Donna singing in the background. They really chose a piece of a pose !
Beautiful!, totally interested in buying it though I wonder if it was limited?
I would get this but I told myself I shouldn’t be buying so much stuff when I’m really poor and running out of my savings. Latest crazy thing I bought was a racing wheel to play Gran Turismo. I don’t remember wheels being so freaking expensive. They cost more than the consoles. I bought my PS4 for $250 and some racing wheels cost up to $600 what the hell?! I love Gran Turismo but I went for a used one and that was $100 dollars and some used ones are like $300 I’m really pissed off.
Sorry, Rant Over. Let me explain in GIF form. The KID is me trying to buy something I can’t afford. and the CAT is my wallet stopping me from making bad choices.
I’m not a cat person but I gotta admit some of them really do care for their keeper. 99% are just assholes though…
Diamond dogs ftw
To be honest I think the cat is hiding something and doesn’t want the kid to open the oven and find the dog in there.
It’s a small off topic, but just wanted to say how I love MGSV soundtrack. I hope that Death Stranding will have something similar to this:
https://youtu.be/mKRItdkES-M?t=146
That is A+ punch at the end. So much stuff is going through my head after listening to that theme. It is so powerful and majestic as F.
Amen to that!
Such a good song, fits the scene perfectly. But for me personally, I want more orchestral/emotional songs like this one:
https://youtu.be/NlWDAk2xx-E?t=110
A very classic MGS style composition, I feel. Very cinematic. All the other songs in the OST felt like an amazing soundtrack to a TV show – very subtle – which is what they were going for and they nailed that.
I honestly just prefer soundtracks like this:
https://youtu.be/oRWmAheUzlk?t=85
Since he said they were going for a more emotional and linear game, I think he will go back to the more “grandiose” cinematic styles soundtracks.
Well I prefer Junkie XL-type bombastic synth and horns-heavy soundtracks but those don’t fit mgs
The beginning reminds a hella lot of “Ezio Family”
https://youtu.be/FSVHx23ByhM
I was listening to the MGS 4 soundtrack today at work. So much good in Metal Gear it’s nuts.
Old snake theme ftw
Metal Gear Saga still gives me da chills
MGS4 soundtrack is amazing. Love Theme, Old Snake, Guns of the Patriots, Mobs Alive, Sorrow, Atonement, Metal Gear Saga and of course Father & Son.
I love the fast pace of metal gear saga
Father and Son is also one of my favourites
I’m crying just reading the names of the tracks oo mi gawd
+Paradise Lost and Violent Ceasefire #-#
Does the Peace Walker theme sound like a fast paced version of MGS4’s “Father and Son?”
Hell yeah
Fckin love this
Let’s be friends XD
Listen to this
This is even more nostalgic than v has come to
Those synths
Those violinssssss
Fiddlllleeeessss
That voice
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kH8s3905OSY
To be honest, i would love Junkie XL to be the composer for Death Stranding!
Is the composer that made the Mad Max Soundtrack and BVS!
And deadpool and Justice League
But let’s be honest , his songs are too bombastic for these kind of games.
I heard somewhere that Low Roar are making songs for the OST
Probably just a stupid rumor
I think they are, just like “Health” made some songs for Max Payne 3!
Yep
Mine is “Beautiful Mirage” it has a very Silent Hill Vibe to it
https://youtu.be/4-2WrKpo9zk
Oh, and i also like how “Beautiful Lie” is more less the same, 2 great songs for 2 damaged character, for 2 emotional heavy moments!
https://youtu.be/z9BL59uiAz8
Imagine if the game had a Steven Price (Gravity) style soundtrack, it would fit quite well, especially if Kojima was going for a more “minimalist” and emotional story, which I think he’s going for:
https://youtu.be/RPHdurcwp5s?t=57
Interstellar also had a great soundtrack, and fits very well. Very mystical and makes me think of child like innocent imagination:
https://youtu.be/Lbh0kpATAw4?t=22
minimalist stuff ftw
I just tried to find a match with the theme / atmosphere of DS that you guys did not mentioned yet, and that entertained me well these past years. Ended up with Susanne Sundfør / M83’s Oblivion sound track :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mkUp1V3ys0
🙂
M83 is great. Love their song “wait”.
Real artists there… They are really cool. Wait is fantastic..
Well the soundtrack of a movie/game depends on its themes, imagery and script or the motivations of its characters.
You can’t have a boys noize song on a space game .
Note; The reason I said boys noize because I just heard one of his songs in a Watch Dogs 2 trailer and every dumbass disliking the trailer thought it was dubstep
Pffffffft
So in other words…you want Hans Zimmer, right?
i loved the death of the waynes in BvS
Probably the best
I’m sure DS OST will be epic too <3.
Yea,this is one of the reasons why i see it as a masterpiece.
MGSV is a true diamond to me,on all aspects.
Shame more people don’t see it the same way,but alas,MGS series in general is not for everyone.
There is still a chance that people’s perception of the game changes over time, as the initial disappointment of it not being what the expected fades. For MGS2 and MGS4 it also took some years for people to fully appreciate them.
I know about MGS 2,but MGS4?
Ive only herd people crying about long cutscenes.
Well around the release and afterwards there were a lot of people who were saying the game was a ‘mess’ and it ‘ruined’ the series with its ‘terrible’ story, and things like that. And of course, as you said, the long cutscenes, with people saying it was more like a movie and it couldn’t really be called a game because the gameplay / cutscene ratio was too low. But yeah, people now generally seem to appreciate the game.
Don’t want to chase witches here, but such stupid inputs certainly not helped / probably contributed to mislead Konami in fully understanding, trusting Hideo’s vision. This may have substantially impacted the atmosphere too.
Japanese boards do not like “too much waves”… But they’ll keep coming …
Yeah the same noobs that cry now because TPP had “only” 5hrs cut-scenes instead of 8… As Nyx stated, they said it was a mess around the release (I wanted to simply kill them xD all after waiting that long for this marvelous opus) and progressively shut their mouths in the following months, hereby understanding that you need months to make your mind about a MGS title. And yeah, some MGS2’s reviews were total incompetent and shameful jokes. 😀
Fools, hehe… Since the beginning the same story repeats again and again. I suppose people need to position themselves a bit too quickly when they don’t know at all a product line. Besides, Japanese games were simply less known back at that times. Too funny to see some dudes improvising themselves as game reviewers without playing the previous opuses which is crucial if you really want to know what you are talking about. Some MGS2 reviews were so ridiculous seriously..
It is like for example Angry Joe on GZ more recently.. I mean the guy is fun, no problem but his GZ review was so off-topic. Totally missed the point about the “playground aspect” of the demo/prologue and the awesome gameplay mechanics, simply because the guy was expecting a whole game !?… Again he looks cool, but he was a total mainstream MG noob on this shot. Another detail is his misunderstanding about TPP’s and general MGS deliberate perversion which is typically cultural. Japanese love to joke about pervs, that’s it. Quiet is not that fan-service at all, even if it is not totally incompatible, she is just a James Bond girl.
With Kojima that’s always the previous games that made us love the next one more and more, but for me he is the only designer that kept us in his intact universe, whether story or gameplay-wise.
Mgs games are diamonds
But not mgsv
Mgs v is an emerald
Still precious but not the same
And dishonored is platinum
MGS V was the worst soundtrack. Im fed up with this epic music bullshit, everything sounds the same, it’s lame composing just staking notes over notes, it has no taste nor melody.
Some details on Kojima’s Develop Brighton talk next week:

http://www.metalgearinformer.com/?p=26332
Wait… WHAT?
“We’ll conclude with a glimpse of things to come”.
Holy shit. Is that a confirmation that they will show us a glimpse of the game engine? OOOHHH——–~~~~~~ Shiiiiiiii
Yeah, although judging by the rest of that sentence it could also refer to the future of gaming in general rather than specific projects. But who knows, would be awesome to get some more information.
Let’s hope it will be maybe somewhere in between, like more info about Koji-Pro’s and Sony’s positioning in that “future of gaming” “as the two Development Legend Award winners share their vision”… ;D
Another thing I am wondering is if Boss was somehow consulted by Mark for PS4 Neo, after all those previous VR meetings here and there, and of course if Mark is still responsible for PS HW design..
I am sure he’ll share the engine’s choice as soon as they decide which one. Perhaps the choice is finally done and he’ll drop the info on Wednesday, but we will for sure take any slightest other glimpse about DS to help us in this waiting extreme torture. ;D
We could also have soon more details about other characters like about those 5 floating dudes… Or hints about the plot… We had yet a lot of info at E3, but all remains so blurry that I suppose dropping us some little peanuts won’t hurt.. I am ready as a mad dog waiting for his little piece of sugar. :DD

*Breathes heavy*
Time to prepare that countdown clock Nyxus :p
Not even sure if they’re going to stream it though…
Mmmh, yeah hard to find any link :/. There is the Developawards Youtube channel, but no solid link so far. I just wrote to them / will let you know if they answer. ;D
Thanks, let us know if you hear more!
😉 Sure, also wrote to a friend working at one of their sponsors (amiqus).. With all the volume of PR benefits and importance for Hideo, Sony and with what we saw at E3, I would be surprised if no live stuff. At least we can be sure it will be shot even if not for live broadcast, but would have really appreciated to see Boss receive the prize Live !
Mmmh, so far it still stinks… The friend answered saying he don’t know yet along with confirming that this was never done in previous editions.. He added that he’ll keep us tuned if he sees something. Develop did not answered yet… :/
Doesn’t sound promising…
Nyx, sorry for bringing bad news but Develop / NewBay Media’s event manager just answered that they are sorry, but there won’t be any stream… (T__T)
So nothing from Develop, we now rely on possible insider amateur live shots or hopefully something official from KojiPro+Sony (let’s hope) ?
We’ll keep our radarS open ! ;D
Ah that’s too bad. Well thanks for figuring it out!
No pb, 😉 I hope there is still some hope to leak a link to this huge moment of the gaming industry’s history !
Will keep checking anyways ! 😀
Maybe Kojima will do some interviews at least, like at E3?
I am tempted to tweet to Koji-Pro about the stream as a message in a bottle.. xD.. To maybe grab some possible re-insuring info about this. Yeah, at least cool interviews would certainly help in waiting for their footage ! 😀 Although I am quite convinced we’ll have the shot of at least the prize the same day !?
Rejoice! It will be live streamed after all! http://www.metalgearinformer.com/?p=27445
HAAAAHHHOOOOHHHH… Thanks Nyx… I just had a hard day and this.. THIS is really appreciated, back home.. 9hrs… 😀
Very detailed piece of work. The price though is unreachable.
32cm high… Indeed expensive but somehow not that high, taking the awesome quality of the shape and colors into account… Or maybe my love for Snake is blinding me… 😀
WOW! Perfect work! Very very detailed!
Someone have 300 dollars? 🙂
XD
I have but I don’t wanna use it on this ;D.

The statue is sooo gorgeous… If Hideo was still there, I would have certainly took my best shot.. Still wondering… ;D
Lol anyone else find his face hilarious? That’s the look I would give someone if they pissed on my dinner lol
It’s the look you give when you’re already a demon.
Lol
Get away from The Boss…i mean EVA…i mean Cecile…i mean quiet….ah, fuck it, too many to keep cunt…i mean, count!
Wait, Quiet isn’t even mine, it’s Ve…..no, it’s mine, i am Big Boss!
They didn’t call him Big B0ss for no reason 😛
The Boss?
Fuck that
That is incest
Ocelot would be disgusting
Goddamn, this looks so awesome :O… High price though, I wish I could get it.

MGS1 is number one for me, such a classic, MGS2 is also very good, that walk on the bridge, watched that cutscene so many time 🙂
If your start saying that, then for me MG is number one. ;D
Give a big hug to MGS2 right away ! :DD
Fantastic.
Personally I voted for the Ground Zeroes one. It is easily the best in my opinion because Kojima directed it in one shot with fantastic Ennio Moricone song that was perfect for that scene. It had incredible next generation visuals. Again, everything was in one shot, no cuts. That was massive as hell for it’s time. Incredible PBE lighting was used for that scene. Everything just worked. It showed the potential and showed the entire level in just one crazy good looking shot. How can you not be impressed by that? You had the story there, a good looking characters. Everything was just.. I can’t describe it really. It was majestic and right for it’s cold War setting. I mean, it’s a CUBA, Cold War, Russia and US, night, that tone, Chico and Paz… Camp Omega and it’s prisoners that don’t deserve that shit. It was Metal Gear. Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes. So good.
My second favorite would be from MGS2. Just a strong memory for it and crazy skeletal animation for it’s time which is good even in 2016.
Ok, but the MGS3’s Rambo-like intro was something ! xDxD !!! ;D
Rambo? Don’t you mean pantywaist? 😛
I meant the Hot-shots 2 intro then… xD
GZ is one hell of a tecnological display and a cinematic achievement of present times that’s for sure (just like TPP). as you say the lighting as well as the whole nigh time raining just makes it even more gorgeous but in audio MGS1 still rules, such chills first time I heard it.
Man dunno ?????? xD Say, MGS3’s for instance, but it is too hard to choose ???! xD
That makes it interesting. 😉
As I said to Golg, MGS2’s… Nah… MGS3’s for me guys… This parachute sh.t is engraved in my soul like forever !!! xDxD
Then where your’s goes ?! ;D
Edit: just voted mine (MGS3’s).
Same!
xDxD !! Thanks for the info !
I always loved MGS2 opening a lot, the bridge scene and the music is just epic while Snake goes into stealth. That or Ground Zeroes…hmm hard to choose. As much as mindblowing TPP was too, GZ just had that more cooler feeling with Ennio’s song and the rainy weather.
I think I choose Ground Zeroes, because it also had incredible one-shot camerawork… The best thing ever.
YES. One-shot camera work was just incredible and the best in the gaming industry. Honestly, someone tried smth like this? I’m not sure. but man, that one-shot for so long without any frame rate drop/ Everything in real time.
Crazy.
Yeah, apparently making this was very difficult:
“The motion capture during the part where everyone gets in the jeep, was really, really difficult, according to Kojima. They built something resembling a jeep for the actors to get in, but it didn’t actually move, so they had a screen showing what was happening in the game. But since not everyone could see the screen, they had to yell at the actors what part of the route they were going through.”
http://www.metalgearinformer.com/?p=13550
Boss always dive first in hard stuff. Bravery or virtuosity… Koji-sity … Heaviest guts of the game industry !
For me 3’s first and 2’s next. Although I love GZ’s and TPP’s and 4’s as well and PW’s too, xD.
MGSV for me.
“Another day in a war without end” – when that text faded in for the first time with Snake picking up the cassette tape, The Man Who Sold the World playing and the nurse saying “V has come to” as the title popped up – I was immediately engaged and absorbed in the literal fastest way I ever have been playing a game. And that was just the first 5 mins of the intro.
Then at the end of one of the greatest hour of gameplay I’ve ever played, this beautiful song started playing to remind me that the game hasn’t even begun yet:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?list=PLwbD-t-58o7lbz0KrrKA89Erwfy0sXUIU&v=kH8s3905OSY
Feels good, man…
I voted for Phantom Pain too. And I see MGSV is winning! Great!
I think these polls have been some of the hardest decisions in my life. lol I had to go for 2 because that iconic Snake landing was super bad ass.
I think Kojima was hinting to lightning/Raiden with this scene. KOJIMA!!!!
https://67.media.tumblr.com/5454a8fa8eac24e264703b2b63007595/tumblr_n62ifaXzC21qamc9eo1_500.gif
Definitely voting for Sons of Liberty.
The moment he jumps off the brigde and is falling, that moment sealed it for me as the best opening to an MGS game ever. The tone of the music, his landing, and of course that iconic pose reassured us that Solid Snake is indeed legendary. I can only imagine how amaze and glorious it would be if it were redone with the best of the best engines today.
https://youtu.be/dEFq7BHeKxw?t=1m54s
So many cool action movies strong references…
This shot for example is the perfect mix between a typical T-800’s arrival and also the Predator’s cloaking device starting to malfunction because of the water / rain.. ;D
Mgs3 for sure man
Je suis dégouté pour hier soir, j’espère que t’es pas autant deg que moi ;D
Nan lol
T’aurais pu laisser “Nan” aulieu de “Non” 😀
Thanks for new poll/survey! 🙂
For MGS1, the real intro is the opening gameplay with the credits, segueing into that godlike elevator cutscene with the title.
Sloppy and deformed. Nice attention to the character model’s detail though. Square Enix could learn a thing or 2.
Is this a statue of the real one or the medic? This matters to me.
…. the medic. Sorry but not sure if that was a trick question or not lol.
The Big Boss GZ statue was released last year.
*Venom Snake
Medic is dead
Both of them are badasses so it doesn’t matter
Also who the fuk is medic?
It’s a Venom Snake Statue, so it can only be The Medic!
Thanks
The medic died in 1974
Rip
Venom snake aka Big Boss
John and venom shared the title of bigboss btw
So there is only one BB
The world never knew there were two
And venom deserved it imo
It’s the character you play as in TPP: Venom Snake. There is no ‘medic’ in The Phantom Pain.
“There’s only room for one Boss and one Snake.” -The Boss during operation Snake Eater 1964. Two big bosses goes against the very canon Kojima created. Another reason why mgsv story is so stupid.
Uhm there are three clones as well. Eight if you count the aborted ones.
The Boss had no way of knowing about the cloning process that would take place, but Solidus, Liquid and Solid were clones of the original Snake and that is why they were given the name Snake as well. And seeing how the two other snakes and the original were directly or indirectly killed or put into a coma by Solid Snake, proves that what The Boss originally said is true: the world just isn’t big enough for more than 1 Snake. But then comes retarded MGSV plot that just destroys all of that and cheapens the uniqueness of Big Boss in the process by saying that some other guy can become just like him. Yes I know the medic was a special soldier but Boss was suppose to be THE special soldier. Anyways…
The persons with the title Boss or Big Boss (The Joy and John from MGS3) earned that title, with the exception of the medic who was merely given the name because The Boss’s memories and stuff were copied onto him somehow . Venom “snake” has no business being called snake as far
as I see it because he isn’t a descendant of Big Boss. He in my opinion is just the result of a stupid story plot that cheapens the uniqueness of Big Boss.
In TPP, ‘Big Boss’ refers to a concept rather than a specific person. Venom Snake just adds to the legend that is Big Boss, a symbol to unite the Mother Base soldiers under and one that is used as a deterrent against Cipher. The point is not what exact individual is behind this legendary name, but what it means. It’s about the power of words, and their relationship with reality and concepts in people’s minds.
In my opinion this is a case of a good idea with a terrible execution. I like the idea of mother base uniting around one idea. An idea that is bigger than a person. The problem for me comes when Big Boss’s uniqueness is destroyed in the process. We’ve already seen this scenario play-out in mgs2 when Raiden was put through similar situations as SS to prove that anyone can become a hero (something like that anyways). But Raiden remained Raiden. A great character was added when we got Raiden, but with Venom “snake” we don’t get a character with his own personality and experiences. Instead we get a cardboard cutout of Big Boss. Someone with his memories and looks but not his experiences and certainly not his charm. (Although this might be due to lazy writing or not wanting to pay Keifer more money)
So now we know that this legendary soldier can now be copied onto other soldiers. Hell, they could do this to any of the characters we love. They could copy Otacon, or Ocelot or Raiden. And I think that is a massive blow to the characters’ cool factor.
It’s different from MGS2, the point in MGSV is not that anyone can become a hero (in fact it’s very much up to debate whether Big Boss can be considered a hero), but it’s about the power of words, the concept they can create in people’s heads, and using the legend of Big Boss (who is a legend both in the game world and in the eyes of the player) is actually a very clever way to make this point. Aside from the plot twist, this theme is executed in many ways in the game, it’s the underlying theme that explains much of the characters, their motivations and other story elements. You can read this article for a detailed analysis: http://www.metalgearinformer.com/?p=22928
I know I’m suppose to be awe’d at how deep the story supposedly is in V but I’m not. In the previous games the name Big Boss wasn’t just an idea. It represented a man who had done incredible things and changed the world. Some revered him (ocelot) others hated him ( Solidus and Liquid) but everyone knew who he was and no one could imitate him exactly (solidus certainly tried). V is too much of a change from what we have seen with the other games. Big Boss was the origin of everything inside the MGS universe. He is a unique character and then all of a sudden V makes him less unique by copying him onto some medic and then saying that the man isn’t so special after all but only the power of his name and legend that is truly special.
Isn’t MGS constantly telling us how legends are just fiction?
In the canon the things that Big Boss and snake did to make them legends were not fiction. Snake took down extremely dangerous enemies and overcame obstacles when the odds were against him. Some of these things were planned, and some weren’t, but none of that takes away from what they accomplished.
“Don’t worry. You’ll land back on them once you meet me. The reality is no match for the legend, I’m afraid.”
“Legends don’t mean a whole lot. I was just a name to exploit.”
“Legend? A legend is nothing but fiction. Someone tells it, someone else remembers, everybody passes it on.”
“I’m no hero… Never was. I’m just an old killer… Hired to do some wet work.”
“Zero elevated Big Boss – the hero who saved the world – to the status of an idol. The truth behind Big Boss became riddled with exaggeration, misrepresentation, and outright lies. Zero disseminated these stories among the masses and gathered the rich and powerful to his banner. Every era
needs its symbols to control the people… Whether it be the Stars and Stripes… Or the Hammer and Sickle.”
“People need heroes. Zero wanted to create a messiah… A legend… That would never die.”
“Once word of Big Boss’ return starts traveling, that will be our true deterrent against Cipher.”
“That’s our reality here, whether it’s real or not. […] All that matters, is that’s the concept that’s taken shape in their heads.”
“But you see how rumors and ideas about people can get out of hand fast. Once you create a character and put it out there in the public mind, it warps and twists with every baseless rumor. And before you know it, all people see are phantoms.”
Legend has a few definitions. One of them however is this: a famous or important person who is known for doing something extremely well.
Both Big Boss and SS were known for doing near impossible tasks. Both made changes to history for the better. B.B. Stopped Volgin and Snake freed people from control of the patriots. Their legend may have gotten corroded by embellishments or lies but that doesn’t change what the player knows about them and what they have accomplished. And the fact that ZERO and the patriots used the Snake’s legend and popularity to profit themselves and their ideals doesn’t take away from what they have accomplished.
“I’m no hero… Never was. I’m just an old killer… Hired to do some wet work.” -Such a badass line. A hero who doesn’t admit he’s a hero. We all love that don’t we.
Both Big Boss and Solid Snake didn’t see it that way. Big Boss looks back at the choices he has made, and refers to them as mistakes, and himself and the others as a ‘bunch of old fools’ who created an ‘era of folly’. Sounds hardly heroic. Snake also doesn’t see himself as a hero (he doesn’t just say that to be modest, he means it, which he has done consistently since MGS1), what he tries to do ever since MGS2 is atone for his sins and leave the world a better place for the next generation by erasing his mistakes. This is also clear in MGS4, where he says to Otacon that it’s not about winning or losing, but that it’s his duty to put and end to the things he started.
“He[Naked Snake] is a unique character and then all of a sudden V makes him less unique by copying him onto some medic.”
The fact that Venom is so uncharasmatic and visibly emotive shows that he isn’t the same person as Naked Snake. Naked Snake is unique, Venom proves that, as Vernon doesn’t act completely like Big Boss: he’s more stoic, more compassionate and more introverted that Naked Snake. The fact that people (including myself) world of preferred to play as Naked Snake/BB oppose to Venom shows how unique these two people are. Having the exact same ideology as someone doesn’t made your their identical clone.
If Otacon was made into BB’s phantom he wouldn’t become BB, he will just be a brainwashed Otacon.
Venom is NOT Big Boss. He’s just a field medic who thinks he is Big Boss – a small but very large difference.
Well mgsv was supposed to be a big fuck you to mgs 2 which is why I like it
You don’t get it
If you were a random soldier, you would think there is only one Big Boss
Medic has definitely earned this codename
I wasn’t really arguing that the Medic didn’t earn the BB code name. I just said that biologically the medic isn’t BB, he just thinks he is BB via brainwashing.
I agree that all the random soldiers would only know Punished “Boring Bastard” Snake as the real one. Not that his boring-ness is bad, it worked in the greater context of the story – but still.
I understand what you are saying, and at the same time I think none of it justifies the story of MGSV. Why would BB let himself be copied like this in the first place? He hated the idea of himself being cloned and it was one of the reasons he left the patriots. But he’s okay with someone having his face and voice and memories? That part doesn’t make sense to me.
More introverted? So is that suppose to explain why the dialogue was so awful and often times non-existent? (cue video of venom staring at skullface in silence for 7 minutes while epic music unfittingly plays in the background). Venom certainly is different than the big boss we all know, but that doesn’t justify him being in the game in the first place. He’s a more boring version of big boss, but yay he’s the main character that we are stuck with?
I wish Kojima had created a character that saw through this disguise. A character to say what the player is thinking. “Why the hell is boss acting so strangely? Why is he so quiet?. This isn’t how I remember him at all”. There would have been some relief in that.
The very theme that underlies the entire game justifies Venom’s Snake role in the game, that’s the whole point. It drives home the theme of the game, as plot twists always do in Metal Gear.
“Why would BB let himself be copied like this in the first place? He hated the idea of himself being cloned and it was one of the reasons he left the patriots.”
BB did have a very definitive stance that he’s against that type of stuff; true. But traumatic and drastic experiences can near instantaneously change peoples’ opinions and world views and ideologies: an experience like having everything you’ve been building for decades literally burn and sink into the ocean before your very eyes. I think this loosened his inhibitions, and allowed him to internally justify forcing some one into becoming a living decoy whist he secretly rebuilt what he lost. Also Venom’s wasn’t created with the intention of furthering the Patriots goals directly like the cloning (BB thought), it was furthering his, and his alone, so this could factor into why BB thought this as acceptable.
But anyhow; yeah, I get what you are saying.
I’m not the biggest fan of MGSV’s story anyway. I get what he was going for, but it wasn’t executed very well imo – but considering the hostile environment[Konami] the game was developed in, and how polished the game turned out – I view it as a masterpiece. I honestly have no idea how the game turned out as good as the one we got despite all the BS poor KojiPro had to ensure. You can visibly see the seams where the game was cut up and stitched back together this time around (the cringe drive with Skull face, characters bring out of character etc).
Since imo Kojima has delivered far better in the past multiple times, I chalk it up to more of external constraints opposed to ignorance and inability, which is why I tend to not focus on the intricacies of the game; as you can the holes, but focus more on its grander strokes.
You could argue that everything I just said is nothing but confirmation bias, and petty mental gymanistics done in attempts to justify my appreciation of Kojima’s intentions, and you may be somewhat right. But still…
*naked snake
Thank you very much
“Get used to your new self”
Did you even play the game or just jump on the bandwagon and hate it
Medic didn’t become Big Boss instantly
This isn’t magic like in superstitions
Medic did heroic things
When he learnt the truth,Naked Snake already had his plan of the war cycle
So venom aka the reflection became a villain too
Also if I remember very wella soldier clearly says “Idc who you are I will stil follow you as a leader”
Hahahhahahhahhaha
Well
I was watching some Death Stranding reaction videos today and look what I found in one of the comment sections haha 😉
Might explain why Hideotube Episode 4 was delayed to this coming week. Also confirms Ken Mendoza is at Kojima Productions. What do you think?
Ken Mendoza is probably also the one who does the English KojiPro Twitter as well as the HideoTube subtitles.
Ken Mendoza was at the new KojiPro long time ago. If you watched this year’s E3 you could already spot him with Kojima – Interview with Geoff for example.
Yeah, he is probably working with HideoTube translation/twitter stuff. Also, he is an amazing translator. His english is super fluent and that is so nice.
HideoTube next week? Week beginning 11th?
I missed a lot these past few days – just finished moving house.
Yeah, should be up next week.
So they will have people like Tyrone Magnus and so reactions to show what people think of it so far, that’s nice!
Ahhhh…….I’ll but it at a high price 😛
(Dang)Hehehehe.Thank you,lol.

Soon…
Prepare for some good news folks. Something is coming.
The worst part is that they have not announced any plans for the stream so far.
Awwww, no stream announced so far 🙁
I hope they just release the footage soon after or the following day at the latest. I don’t want to have to completely rely on the people who were there to dictate what they saw, I would prefer to witness senpai and his miracle workings myself.
Nyxus can you update the article? I read that if you pre-order the statue or the Quiet one you will get a statue of Puppy DD as a bonus.

That’s true, they announced that a while ago. You have to buy both Quiet and Snake though. Anyway, the article has been updated!
Little remark : That’s quite unfortunate that Gecco’s Quiet face is way less matching Stefanie’s than this Venom’s is matching Snake’s..
